Past day or two the Corsas been getting quite hot quite quickly. It usually sits around 90 degrees c. But its been moving like a speedo recently. Even when just doing 60 in 5th, it climbs to around 100c, which it never has before. Might of just answered my own question but i dont think the fans kicking in..
Engines getting water as all the pipes are hot.
My mates said fan switch.
What do you reckon?

Yea pr0oably the fan switch, I had this last week. Its down the bottom drivers side of the radiator.
You can test it by taking the wires out and connected the two wires in the plug togther. If the fan comes on, its the switch thats broke

So take the 2 wires out and put them together?
And if the fan comes on, its broke?

Yea, pull the plug out the switch in the bottom of the radiator. Use a seperate piece of spare wire to connect the 2 wires in the plug togther. With the ignition on the fan should then come on, in which case, its the switch thats broke

If the fan comes on, the switch is broke. Nice and cheap to buy!

i paid about a tenner... BUT i struggled to get the swicth out the radiator cos the thread fucked, so needed a new rad....

  Hope mines not the same.
Just been out to the car and the fan does come on when i connect the 2 plug terminals togethers. Got a few little sparks from the wire though

I'd say airlock or thermostat Jake, as at 60 mph in 5th the engine should stay at a nice normal temperature (90ish).

If its any help, the temp dial goes up and down quite quick if i change direction and speed.. If that makes sence.

How quick? Is it really like you said, as fast as the speedo?
Approx how long does it take to get from 90 to 100?

About 40-50seconds, probably about a mile or so..
BUt when i slow down, it usually goes down to 95, untill i speed up abit and then it goes up again.

or get the water temp sensor and earth it when the ignition is live, the water temp will hit the roof and the fan should come on then

its not dodgy, the fan switch works on electrical resistance, if you earth it the water temp sensor will go up and into the region where the fan comes on, its not dodgy at all tbh

If you earth the water temperature sensor the fan wont come on, just the gauge will move up. To test it you need to bridge the 2 pins for the fan switch at the bottom of the radiator. The water system is self bleeding once it has been filled to the point that the pump is filled and water starts pumping round the system.
Does the fan come on when the temp reaches 105 degrees when you leave it ticking over?
If the temp is going up while your driving (as long as your not up close behind someone) then it will be a thermostat or blocked radiator problem

sorry, you what! if the water temp sensor is earthed working on the electrical resistance of the water temperature, the water temp will go through the roof and the fan will come on as this works off a relay from the temp sensor iirc

The rad fan doesn't have a relay and doesn't work of the temp sensor used in the dash. It has a rad fan switch screwed into the bottom of the radiator
