I think this is an absolute Disgrace.
He's got the biggest sympathy vote ever.
Reasons why he shouldnt be Captain:
a) Euro 2008 Qualification FAILURE - for captaining this alone, he shouldnt be captain. He's obviously failed.
b) He's the biggest Bottler going. I know anyone can slip, but the decisive penalty in CL Final? I mean, come on, pick your moments!
c) He's a racist.
Personally, I think the druggie, Rio, should of been given it.

It was an Appoitment from the FA I think more than anything.
I don't expect England's fortunes to change anytime soon. I see they're losing 2-1 now as well. Maybe Wes Brown should be given a go? He's been awesome lately!

A) The captain can only do so much, he doesn't pick the team and can try to get a poorly selected squad to raise their game. At this level his team-mates shouldn't need any encouragement.
B) Don't show your ignorance. If he had bottled it, he wouldn't have taken it. He led by example and was willing to take the decisive kick that was full of pressure and that takes guts. He slipped, nothing more.
C) Where the hell do you get that from? Oh, just to show how stupid your comment is, are you aware that Ferdinand had to appologise for his comments when on the radio with Chris Moyles where he couldn't participate in gay banter, said something about not being into that stuff then calling Moyles a faggot?

What a load of bullshit some of you have posted!! JT wears his heart on his sleeve! FACT. He never bottled the penalty, he HAD the bottle to go up there in he first place. Have Gerrard or Rio never confronted the ref?? Was Terry banned for not attending a drugs test?- Great role model that is. First time since 1994 England have failed to reach the finals. I was hoping it would prove a good thing in the long run, but giving the captaincy back to the guy who masterminded this failure.
I was hoping for a new era, new players, new captain. Instead, its the same old.
John Terry is one of the most over rated players going!
I appreciate what you're saying about Rio and his missed drug tests etc etc, but if given the choice out of who'd I'd rather have in the side, I would choose Rio for his solidness.
With Terry being captain, this basically means automatic selection, where as Rio has competition from woodgate, richards, king, dawson, upson, brown etc.

I think Terry should be captain,The captain should be a strong gritty leader who leads from the back. I don't particularly like Terry but he is the best candidate for Captain.
Fuck Rio for captain, some wanna be gangsta, Who can take anyone serious who makes a tv show with him saying "you got merked", what next Westwood for manager?
