Dont they use the 2.2 airbox so it makes the charge pipe work shorter to make it abit less laggy?

Also to stop the cold air getting warm over the top of the rocker cover iirc?

I wanted to get involved because I've got a 2.2, I didn't know the reason for them doing the swap though

Makes sense about keeping it that bit cooler when you think about it.

Increasing the length of the inlet BEFORE the turbo does not create lag, so it will make very little difference.. It MAY be slightly less restrictive but as for decrease lagging thats negligable.

Also these engines don't like normal DV's am i right?? So either a twin piston DV or a recirculation valve one would be necessary?

Jambo - what did you use instead? I have read they fuck up some of the sensors as in the engine gets confused.

If you are going to get one, get an X reg to avoid the stupid tax bands..
And yes you need a twin piston DV if you want VTA.

The same cold air that goes through a red hot turbo!
The idea of removing the crossover pipe is to make the inlet track shorter. I also think it tidies up the engine bay
Heres mine - Also i made 317bhp with this set up

must admit that the crossover pipe makes the engine look ugly

one of the easiest, cheapest, and worthwhile mods for the Zlet, also a hardpipe kit would be a good look too
DONT get a dump valve, you wil find the noise from the turbo is louder when you change the airbox and take out the crossover pipe!
The only issue with the 2.2 mod is that the breather isnt connected to the inlet, but you can plum it into the 2.2 airbox with the correct pipework

I have my breather venting to atomsphere, I always have a bailey shit thing on as well as the the standard valve connected.
I dont trust the standard item with 1.5 bar boost!

having both connected is pointless. you will find it runs alot smoother with the breather into the inlet
