Derestricted and drilled airbox with panel filter

Or unclip the bit at the bottom of the airbox and don't drill it at all. Thats what I did

Hows water any more of a problem with a hole in the bottom of the airbox opposed to a bit open sponge?!

Heat soak is less susceptible with airbox anyway which will help to irradicate that flat spot.

so best bet is to replace the induction kit with a airbox and pannel filter with no bottom?

You use the bottom half of the airbox, but there should be a part on the lower half of the box that you can unclip. Take that off.

And yes, imo you will, unless you get an enclosed induction kit.

Cone filter makes more noise but if you're after noise without the problems then drilled and derestricted airbox with a decent panel filter works much better.
Thats what I have in my 12v

speaking from experience get a box and drill it and de-restrict it.

ive had a pipercross big foam filter which was shite and caused numerous flat spots. At the moment i have a bmc enclosed induction and its very boggy low revs, the only reason its still on is that ive sold my car and just waitning on new owner to collect. Also the fact that enclosed induction kits are mega £££ for very little bhp

Doing all the intense maths that we're not capable of to work out where to put a flexible cold air feed pipe in to get the most pressure going to the filter.

Ive tried everything on my x14xe and the best i found was to just take the pipe off from the front of the car to the air box, and leave it.

Granted you dont get that raw noise you do from the filters on these engines, but it totally changes the way it drives. ALot nicer in day to day driving
