Was I the only one hoping one of the swimmers had eaten 30mins before racing, leading them to cramp up during the race and slowly sink to the bottom?

Adlington winning medals in the swimming and breaking a very long standing world record when nothing was expected of her, people thought she would have done very well to get on the podium

Where as Chris Hoy was expected to win those medals

So because he was expected to win it then it makes it less meaningful?

Fuck any favourite who wins anything from now on then, they were expected to anyway so dont deserve the credit due to them

No, i'm not saying it's less meaningful, i said it's more of an achievement to win something when you aren't considered to have a very good chance

We are the best at cycling, we put the most money into the development etc, alot less gets to swimming

I am yes

I think what she did was a massive achievement, but I dont think she deserves this anymore than Hoy does. Hoy was expected to win it as he has put in the work prior to this to be known as the best in the world - its not because what he does has had large investment. He still had to go out and do it, where lots of favourites often fail, but he didnt.
