I went to the NEC today for the Autosport show, where apparently the Pistonheads show doesn't open until Saturday - except it was open all day today as well
Most of my pics are taken in the Pistonheads section, as my phone ran out of battery in the afternoon. All were taken on an LG Viewty, so they are a bit crap
All of them taken today can be found here:
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/garage.php?action=usergarage&owner=tom_simes&carid=8324&page=all
Right, on with the pics:
Start with a good car, although I don't know what was in it:
And now the rest:
A very random Merc too, I didn't quite understand why it was there?
Then moved onto the Porsche section:
And everyone's favourite car of the moment (It is actually this colour too, didn't look anywhere near as vibrant as other pics I'd seen on the net):
That model was the one that has been on show before, although apparently the next pics are the first time the RS has been shown in its full production form, but I couldn't see any differences:
If you haven't seen the Aspid at all, have a good read about it here: http://www.aspidcars.com/
It's not the prettiest looking car, but Evo gave it a fantastic review, and it all seems so well thought out, and fantastically built.
It also ran twin brake discs too - the first of its kind, and seems so simple when you look at it; It's just a large 4 piston calliper, but with a pad carrier in the centre too, so that four pads and two discs can be used:
Prodrive had a very special engine on their stand too - from speaking to one of their engineers, it is a Dutch invention, which Prodrive have now developed. It's an engine where the crank is elliptical, so that the compression ratio is adjustable to increase torque throughout the rev range.
I also took a very poor video of it to show it moving, linked below:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2pW78Bmn0ts
Here's a Renault Megane Trophy - not seen one of these before, looked 'interesting'! Mid-engined and RWD
David Coulthard's race cars through the years:
A couple of rally cars:
A pretty cool police car:
And an even cooler Corsa D - 1.8 VVTI engine, flocked dash, buckets, harnesses and roll cage:
A Lotus Elise/Exige modified by BTB Exhausts - including fitting a V6:
Chevrolet's new WTCC car, based on the all new Chevrolet Cruze:
And last, but definitely not least, the Gulf coloured Le Mans GT1 Class-winning Aston Martin DB9:
And then my battery ran out
I really enjoyed going today, and still didn't see loads of the show - so much so, that I'm going back on Saturday!
I recommend it to anyone who can get there this weekend and likes cars and the engineering behind them - you definitely won't regret it!

No, or me Rob.
They guy at Prodrive told me they weren't doing anything at all regarding rallying this year either, so it sounds as though Prodrive don't even have any privateers to build and maintain for this season, which surprised me!
The photo's above represent about 1/5 of the show btw, there is loads I missed or couldn't gat a photo of, like the Corsa D Super2000 tarmac spec rally car, that looked gorgeous!

Good shots there Mr Simes. That engine looks like that's going to be expensive when it blows up. Service every 1k instead of every 6k?

The red 850i (zeemax/zender/similar kit on it) is from near mine, it sounds lovely and looks mean as hell on the road.
That grey c4s is lovely, good pics

Well i went up the back and the live arena doors were open and there was a Karting circuit and you pay a fiver to go in this Merc V12 estate and it drifts around the arena with a full car and its a total buzz for a fiver with the smoke you can see out of the back window
