The thing is, the original rat cars would have been utilitarian vehicles that had the look due to being out in all weathers, neglected and abused.
People didn't go out, buy a clean car then set about making it rusty and looking for things they can put on it to make it look shitty and abused. It's like getting a nice girlfriend then hitting her in the face with a hammer just to make her look more unique. Pointless.

some of you are taking the piss out of ratty looking cars, but tbh alot of the aircooled vdubs looks fucking amazing, and have had so much work done to them to get them looking right.
that corsa, the mk3 astra estate that was at pv etc look shit because there trying to hard, and there too new!

Shed imo. I feel sorry for the people that have to MOT these things, really. Only upside is you don't need to bother polishing it or taking care of the paint, and it doesn't matter if you dent it. Making cars into a pile of rust like that is stupid, if it's been used and abused then fair enough I suppose, but then it's basically just not been looked after.

Because once plastic starts rusting, there's not much you can do to stop it so you'd have to replace the bumper and that means dollar.
