Anyone had or driven one? I'm away to collect one tommorow night purely because I'm getting it for what I think is a bargain.. Unsure whether to keep it or just tidy it up and sell it on..

My boss used to own 1 in RS Blue, with anthracite wheels... looked gorgeous, had the full upgrade kit with sub, heated leather seats and quite a few other extras... never drove it but was in it a few times, was a very nice ride and pretty nippy aswell... didnt have it too long cos he bought an RS lol

They have pretty long gearing thats why they arent as quick as they should be.

Book figure is 8.2 to 60 from what I can see.. Not slow but definately not quick.. It doesnt have either of the option packs on it but for the price I'm paying I'd buy it even if it was a heap. Will do a belt kit and service then see what I think of it..

Decent all round car IMO but should not be classed as a 'Hot Hatch'

They aren't very fast. Remember when my cousin had one and it really need screwing to go and even then it wasn't what you would call hot hatch quick

Very good cars, and yes underated. I'm sure you can extract more from them with a different exhaust manifold with the standard one being really restrictive.

That shape Focus has always been commented on its handling abilities compared to the competition. . .can't see an ST170 being that bad.

I'd love to own one, but strangely I struggle to get insurance on one (yet can get quotes on 182's etc lol)
Looks very tidy for the money (presuming it's within about £1k of the price its on atm) Wheels are starting to show signs of typical Ford wear which is a shame - easily fixed I suppose.

I read somewhere that Clio 182's are necessarily 182bhp or 182ps, where as the Fords are a bit more accurate?! May have something to do with it.

Then to confuse me further though, I just got a quote on an Impreza out of interest - £1800 - At least I get a bloody quote for that!!

Its not mega cheap for me to insure, but £400 for me and the gf isnt bad.. Will more than likely get her to insure it because she will use it much more than me anyway so should be closer to £250..
Rich H I removed the link in case anyone tried to buy. I'm getting it for well within what you said. It needs a back arch painted due to a bit of rust starting to bubble which wasnt shown in the advert and its due a belt hence the price I'm getting it for. I work for a bodyshop though so should get it done cheap and I will do the belt myself.
