May sound a little stupid, but Ive never done it before, and may go on the strip this weekend.

When your at the lights, do you have the handbrake on or just hold it with the clutch?

Hold it on the clutch, hold the revs at about 5k and floor it

- Handbrake on, keep your hand on it with the button pressed ready to release it
- Get the biting point and go a little bit passed it so you feel the car start to try and pull
- Find the right rpm so you move away smoothly, and dont just light the tires up
- Learns the lights, so you are moving by the time the light goes green (normally release the handbrake just as the last amber gets lit up)

Hold it at biting point, remember to read the conditions on the day, flooring it on a wet track means a very long wheelspin!!

i couldnt even do a proper burn out

handbrake fully on, rev up drop clutch, spin spin but the damn quaiffe diff used to grip so much it would pull the rear wheels alone locked up!!

then just get to the line, 2 yellow lights, get the first one lite up, then keep nudging until the 2nd one lights up, hold it there anf wait for the lights to go red, red, green!

35 is ok, but it means your car is slower. need to raise rev limit to 9k for optimum sprints. bouncing the faders is important to clear unwanted gases in exhaust before new gear is selected. i have 6 years of experience, and my mate jimbo says mine sounds the bomb on the faders and gets the crowd looking.

At Pod you get the first sensor light then when you reach the right sensor point you get the one next to it. Then three amber lights in a row vertically and then green.

Best thing to do is try and hit the accelerator as soon as you see the vertical ambers because they change so fast to green

If its your 1st time doing the 1/4 then ignore all of the above as you will forget it all as soon as your sitting on the line. The adrenaline will kick in and youl be shaking like fuk.Takes practice to get into a rythm.

My 1st time i used the handbrake and high revs but it was no use,it just span as i took off as the temptation to just floor it gets the better of you.

2nd time doing it a few months ago i left the handbrake off and just hung the revs pretty low.Lights changed to green and a wee bit gas seen it lighting the tyres up.Keep the throttle at the same position till it it got grip and then foot down and bang bang bang up the gears.None of the cars i was up against got infront off the line(pulled about 3 car lengths in front of a Mk4 Gsi using that teqnique).Only car that was even in 1st gear was a torque-less Civic Vti but as soon as i grabbed 2nd it was basically over for him.

Im not saying thats the best was for any car but it suited me and the XE Corsa i was driving.

You will soon get the hang of it.

Also if you find yourself spinning all the time off the line, let some air out the tyres(as long as u can get a pump to inflate them before you leave).

Best to practice before hand with launches, learn the optimum RPM the car pulls at.

What day are you going to Pod Antnee?
