Mike I hate to say this but most of us knew that it was well dodgy when you originally swapped.

Knew as soon as you said he was swapping your write off astra for an M3 with what you thought was a simple sump gasket or whatever it was.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Personally I thought - mainly because of the guy who used to own it posting up shortly after you swapped and what he said.

TBH your swap deal was too good to be true, and that's the reason why. A £5 RAC HPI check is nearly always worth doing these days!

Well thats not really knowing is it john, unless you HPI checked it or knew about its history.

I thought you knew this from the episode when the guy that bought your astra came on to have a bicker!?

ebay adverts ok but I wouldnt jabber on so much about 'will make good track car' etc & the fact its been written off just mention it & be done with it.

Good man for admitting its a Cat C write off on Ebay.

Lots of people would try and let that little detail slip.

If you do an HPI check and it comes up clear, but you later find out that something is dodgy about the car, HPI guarantee upto £10k of the value of the car.

I'd much rather spend the little extra for some extra peace of mind.

I know how you feel mate, i got stung alot worse though, bought a car for £9k and had it taken off me by police as it was 'ringed' so technically didnt belong to me, i lost the lot.

I agree with Colin, mention its a Cat C then just mention the good bits, its still fine to be on the road.

Will the wheels polish/clean up at all? That would be a bit put-off for me as they look expensive, so polished up expensive looking wheels could add a few £.
Get some T-cut on that orange rust, then take a pic. You will hardly see it at all and would look alot more minor.

Good luck matey

Thanks ash, ill edit it in the morning, yes the wheels just need the rims doing, there is no major chunks out of them. Any i was going to T cut the rust but, i want to be as honest as i can, i would be fuming if i traveled loads of miles to colect the car and find out its not as described.

Is there anyway of knowing what was repaired?

If you scrap it i'll take
1 - rear lights
2 - wheels
3 - front seats
4 - RHS headlight
5 - infact the whole car would be easier
