Ok, some of you that may have seen my project thread know i have totally gutted the shell of all components and are not starting to build back up.
Im now onto buying the bits for the brakes, i will be using standard brake parts (master cylinder, bias etc) with 288mm setup. Now i was wondering can you run braided brake lines all the way from the master to all the brakes? Rather than using standard solid brake pipe?
Also, can you run them where you like as i dont really want to run them behind the engine would rather run them under the scuttle panel or something like that.
If so, can anyone help me out with what i would need as im a little in-experienced when it comes to this lol!

As long as the route you are planning is clear I can't see a problem with re-routing them.
As for the braided hoses, can I ask why? I would imagine it could be done although it'd probably mean having custom hoses made or having loads of hoses with some sort of connecters linking them. Sounds like it'd just be making more work for yourself.

I will probably just re-route standard brake pipe material, does anyone know of a good place that i can buy all i will need to install the brake lines? I literally have Nothing on the car, i already have braided flexis though lol!

Yeah, if you re routed them inside the car would you use standard brake pipe or use all braided brake line...

from what i gather, the metal ones have to be suspended from the body and not touching anything metal. also arent really supposed to be touching eachother.
there is no reason why you cant run them inside the car and have them all braided the full way. working with std brake pipes, the metal ones is a pain. took me a fair few hours to re-pipe the whole of my car. even longer to make sure everything was clear of everywhere and nothing touching anything.
maybe im wrong, but i dont see an advantage of having the lines fully braided all the way. cant see any gains it would have.

Yeah i think i will run standard brake pipes on the car its just routing them as i dont want them behind the engine at all.
Also can you buy a kit with all you will need? Pipe, and the fitments etc etc?

buy them all seperately. its not that expensive really. i used just over 14 metres i think it was. made a few mistakes though.
also, if you have a rear compensator, 2 of the unions are larger than normal. and the 2 that are in the brake master cylinder servo thing are also larger. so you need 4 larger ones of which i dont know the size as i just re-used those ends as i was against the clock.

Ok ok, never installed complete brake pipes before.
Any chance of a quick rough diagram anyone?
Just need to know where they go off and split etc? Thanks

does car have abs? if not there is a splitter thing already on the car. think its on the bulkhead, or under the battery tray. i took abs off mine hence re-piping it all. mine are split front left to rear right, front right to rear left.

Everything has been removed regarding the brake system, No junction boxes or anything on there even!
I want to install the brake pipes myself, and just need a digaram of where i can run them and where they need to split etc?
I will use a kit like this:

I also do not want the brake pipes to run behind the engine at all.

can run them along the inside of the scuttle panel or back through the car to the rear if you want to. doesnt really matter. its actually quite easy to have them running in the std locations though. as the cars were designed to have them there so plenty of space.
why are you concerned about them being behind the engine?

am just gonna run braided straight from the cylinder through the car to the rears. And obviously to the front too, anyone know the best place to buy a roll of braided hose and all the fittings?

the whole point in having the metal brake pipes is to stop flex when braking, hence the reason you get braided hose as an upgrade to replace the standard flexi hose, but the braided hose only reduced the amount of flex under heavy load it doesnt stop it completly, so if your gona run a complete braided system expect abit of travel when heavy braking, personally i would just run them in the original places and get some braideds for replacements.
