How do you go about doing this? Im hopefully going to pick up a car some point soon, and its got no tax/m.o.t so was wondering is there a certain age/weight limit to what i can drive?
Im 21, been passed for 2 years (3 in april) Full UK car drivers license. The car is only a Austin Metro so nothing special/too heavy. If that helps at all.
Thank you.

Check with your local hirer though as it varies,
can you not tow it with a towing bar?

Plus
Hiring a tow truck is going to cost more than what an austin metro is worth without mot or tax

I would have thought you could tow what you want, it's obvious the car isn't being driven?

how big of a tow truck? i'd hazard a guess at you needing a 7.5 tonne license for one

if you passed after a certain date, you need separate licences for towing trailers etc don't you?

Not drivable no tax/m.o.t. Not worth putting it on either.
I passed on 18th April 2007.

But is the car in a driveable state?
If it is and your not bringing it home far, just insure it for a day, book an MOT local to you and then "stop at your house" en-route and "discover something that will stop you from having an MOT".
All above board that.
If a copper stops you just say you just bought it and taking it to an MOT test to find out if/what work needs carrying out to make it road legal.

how far is the car travelling? try asking a friendly garage if they'll collect it on a recovery truck as a foreigner or something, weigh it up against the cost of everything else

it will cost you less to get a towbar fitted to one of the cars than to hire a tow truck
a normal transit is about Ł60 - Ł80 a day so a full on low loader will be alot more I would have thought
why not buy a shit metro closer to home?

By the time you have spent out hiring a van, aking the correct licence etc etc, you could have bought a runner on the bay

If you are 21 I'd guess your license will mean you can drive a 3.5tonne gross MAX. So be careful!

you are too young to tow a trailer too.....
Need to sit a test...
Cant to it with wheels on the ground (dolly) - needs to be MOT'd/tax'd for that. But doubt youd get pulled up on that.
Towing with a rope for 400miles would be fun.
