I've bought a Meg's kit from Halifords..... it's good stuff..... 3 and a bloody half hours later to do the bloody bonnet!!!

My hand is killing! My back isn't much better! I'm just getting old

After 2 hours I was halfway through the bonnet and a neighbor asked me what i've been up to stood in one place for so long. So I told her what i've been doing and said that i've done half of the bonnet so far.... guess which side i've done?..... WELL!!! She only went and said the wrong bloody side

How long is it meant to take? I've been doing it on my Arosa which is silver so it does show up every little mark and I will not leave any mark on there. Well unless it's a bad stone chip then i've not got much choice although it does seam to make it a little smaller

Oh and no after pics as it was dark when I finished. I'm sure that you'd not even be able to tell but I know it's been done and that's all that matters.

Depends on how bad the car is I suppose. My friend did one on his M3 which is kept immaculate and it took him 5 hours.

Hmmm. Looks like i'm a little too thorough at doing it then.

Oh, there are these little orange "rust spots" that were all over the place. What are they? They were also on the door mirrors so they can't be rust.

Iron filings?

Do you live near a railway line by any chance. Or had the car been parked near one?

A bonnet should take 5 minutes. All you do is spray the quick detailer then lightly rub the clay over the wetted panel. Any stubborne tar deposits rub a bit harder.

What have you been doing to take 3.5hrs?

Yeah, that's about right. I've not got one of those..... yet

I work it very methodicly. Start at the top right and slowly work down. If there are any bits that I want to get rid of i'll just stay on that one spot and work it until it's gone.

I'm not using full strokes of the bonnet. Just kept on working all the little bits out of one section then move to the next one 3mm lower down

I past over the bonnet in about 30 secs and the bar was really dirty. I just saw these little specks on there and thought i'd see if they could be removed.... they can.... all 300 million of them
