Contrary to popular belief, its not just fords we work on....

thought we would start a new project thread on one of our long termers...

Welcome the Clio 172 cup:

bought with eibach proline springs and speedline 15" wheels, other than that totally standard.

car was used as a daily runabout as it was for a while, then the exhaust fell off, so replaced it with a 2.5" bore stelth system:

also when serviced a pipercross panel filter was fitted.

again not much was touched for a while other than a few shiny bits:

carbon splitter to replace broken standard cup splitter:

carbon engine cover and black samco 90degree elbow:

A popular mod with the clio 1*2 is to modify the inlets due to poor casting from factory, this involves removing them and enlarging the runner size and matching it to the cylinder head so everything runs much smoother:

this left power 185bhp and 156lbft

the before and after are from the car in totally standard form then the car with full exhaust and decat, matched inlets, pipercross panel filter and samco 90degree bend.

Plans of big power started hatching so suspension and brakes needed upgrading:

along came the AST coilover kit:

these came with two spring options one softer for road and one for track, they also offer damping adjustment and slotted for camber adjustment on the front

this left the car sitting like this:

low, bumpy and uncomfortable, it has since been raised which has made life much more bearable.

now the suspension is there the next upgrade before the power is to be increased is the brakes, as standard the brakes are more than up to the job however with whats planned it was decided to develop a competitively priced 4 pot kit using a brembo vented disc, ebc red stuff (for now) pads and a willwood radial mounted caliper:

now its time to concerntrate on making it 300bhp.....

updates to follow soon....

So thats 185bhp with opened up inlet tracts, pipercross and a mani back? Your still running the 172 manifold? I might have to get my car up to you when I get a clio. How much would you charge for the inlet work? Was that figure with the standard map?

In my opinion i dont think its worth swapping to the 182 manifold for the gains produced.

yes this is the standard map.

Inlet work is £140+vat + labour

Did you see the GDI/Omex set up at autosport? I got a feeling the conversion in general is going to be mega bucks due to the confined space!

From what ive read the 182 manifold will give you more bhp at the top end, but the 172 is gives you lower down torque that the 182 lacks. Alot of people will agree with you on cliosport.

£699 for the brake kit which includes the following:

295x26mm brembo hc discs
EBC Red stuff pads
Braided front lines
Caliper brackets
Calipers
bolts

different pads available tho if people want, however these will alter the price.

to reset the light get it on a diagnostic machine, see why its on.
