I see alot people using Corsa's or Nova's as Track day cars and then people comment on how shocking their handling is. Opinions and discuss. Pre 2000 Vauxhalls.

Isnt it down to bad chasis design?
Theres alot of things you can improve on, corsas and novas are used as they are cheap and light. Can also do a decent conversion for cheap too

Suppose its going to be something like Mk2 Astra GTE then, Vauxhall dont tend to do good handling in the sense of 205 gtis and such things.

Think he means out the box. Astra Mk1 wasnt a bad handling car but anything after that has always left much to be desired. As with most modern day cars they are all designed with understeer to make them 'safe' but its nothing some suspension tweaks cant sort and turn a bad handling car into a track tool.

out of the box no early vaux's were that great, maybe the old gte?
of the newer ones the corsa vxr is a hoot on track nice and balanced no safety undsteer crap you get designed into cars these days.

Im not trying to be funny here but back in the day when calibra turbos had working 4x4 systems im sure they held the road well

I had one although it had been lowered and had 17's (not standard ok) it handled very well............. until mid bend when the 4x4 randomly decided not to work

If it wasn't 4x4 though as the majority of the Vauxhalls 4x4 systems end up being useless. FWD Calibra, Cav, Mk2 + Mk3 Astra's? Im a right in thinking a longer wheelbase is usually a better set up to start with on the corners?

wasn't a very good handling car.

it was a straightline machine from the reviews i've read/watched.

Car just looks twitchy under cornering.

My cav sri saloon handles better than my corsa, or vectra, or astra.

But I have owned a 1900 205 gti
