1993 Gsi 15" astra gsi wheels

Want to get some aftermarket suspension, pref softest non crashy ride as possible as its for Mrs Jambos car!
The current setup is just std shocks ans springs, 15years old at that and imo they werent great when they where new so i want to replace them so the car drives tighter and is more responsive

Ideally i want konis but they are £430 and i wan to spend least as possible at the mo as its only a car for her to learn in.
Seen a spax rsx kit cheap and a stupidly cheap janspeed kit.
Anyone reccomend a kit?
I used to have bilstein streetline kit and handled amazingly however it shattered my spine over every bread crumb in the road and i dont think mrs Jambo would like it.

I have some 40mm springs already so i dont mind just getting shocks if its cheaper/easier

I may get slated for saying it. But just get a set of Gmax's. I know a couple of people with them. Get the lowered look, and handle better than standard and come with warrenty. And cheap. budget kit, but does the job well imo.

gmax = shite

got my first set of bargin spax coilovers for £175 brand new halfolds

if you intend to keep the car, its worth spending abit more

or look for a second hand set of decent onces, pref adjusterable as most fixed kits are set up wrong

I will stick up for my essex friend here I had the 40mm kit on my first car and the 60mm kit on my gsi

No problems with either. You could say the ride was a bit unrefined but so have most of the other corsa's I have been in unless serious money is spent

I had that £175 kit from halfords and thought the ride was no better then the gmax. And the adjusters rubbed on the wheels so I went back to the gmax

IMO buy the Koni dampers individually from Koni and then put some eibachs on it will be a lot more confier without the excessive drop.

Pickford may be onto something with the Gmax stuff as its cheap as chips. Russ had them on his SXi and they were not as bad as I thought they would be ride wise.

Cutting springs is about 100% worse than an aftermarket GMAX kit by far

i hate being shock around, fixed kits in my opinion are no good

you need to custom the settings, mine are set to soft, but if you want to track it, wind them right up, and you can also get the balance set up to handle how driver wants

but i dont think mrs jambo will be doing any of that

Just get them from Ebay or Larkspeed or such the like.

Just dont go for the crappy 60mm kit

Also Gmax/Jamex are pretty much the same kit just rebranded.

I would look into the Koni's personally I rember when mine were dead on the Corsa put some new ones on and were like these are almost bearable

In your opinion. Fuck it. Take the springs out and you'll be even lower. That mean the ride will be better?

Not if you go direct to Koni roughly £40-50+vat for the front shocks and a little less for the rears.

I was talking about what warren was saying with custom stuff. Or is that what you are talking about too?
