Well I was tired of the kit lens so I bought a Sigma 70-200 F2.8
But I couldn't just stop there could I?
No no no not at all.
I then had to buy a Hoya 77mm UV filter for it, a battery grip for the camera, a Glass screen protector and now I am on the look out for a new bag as the lens wont fit in my old one
I just hope it means I can take some better pictures now
Im off to the Plains Rally on sat to get it a trial

Only a D60 for now. Might look towards a D300 when the D400 gets announced.
I got the lens for a bargain price thanks to a well timed ebay voucher

So far I have spent:
£100 on a bridge camera
Sold that for £75 = -£25
Spent £600 on a Canon 400D + 55-250 lens = -£625
Sold both of those for 375 = -£250
Bought a 5D for £1000 = -£1250
Bought my 300mm L lens @ £650 = -£1700
Traded the 5D for a 40D plus £300 my way = -£1500
All in 17 months. And thats without memory cards, monopod, a hard drive to store all the photos etc.
I've never added it all up before. Shit

Big difference that makes.
I have actually made about £400 pure profit by now I reckon, so not all bad I guess
Edit - thats mostly from other work I have done, not from the Combe day

How do you find the 100-400L Rich?
I tried it but couldn't get used to the push/pull which is why I ended up going for the 300 prime instead.

I'll join in as well...
New 50D, 50mm f/1.8 on order, new bag, lots of new Hoya filters, BG-E2N grip, 16gB Extreme IV card, RS-80N3, 580EX II (and wireless triggers) and I'm viewing a 24-105L tomorrow.
Nearly £3k in less than a week FFS...
But hopefully that'll be the last for a while and I can try and make some of it back through the gear.

Actually, going back further, over £250 on my 'car rig' a few weeks ago too, as well as a 1tB external HDD, 681B monopod, £350 on a Sigma 10-20mm around the same time and tons of other shit that I can't think of.
I'm selling the 10-20mm soon though, as I want the Canon 10-22mm instead (an extra £180 or so).

Its not as sharp as I would like TBH
especially at the top end.
The push and pull is easy to get the hang of, but i do prefer the normal twist zoom
