what to do next?
I currently have a s1 xsi 16v, but im unsure what to do next spec wise?
Spec upto now
16v conversion
Raceland 4 branch
Enclosed filter
2" Pugsport
GTI rear disc beam - Greenstuff pads
GTI 6 front brakes - Mintex 1144 pads
OMP upper and lower strut brace
Koni adjustable dampers - all round
Comp short shift
GE short shift
Kam racing linkages
Mi16 Wheels - Parada spec 2 tires
Stripped
Buckets and harnesses
OMP steering wheel
group n engine mounts
I have a JP4 engine in the garage waiting to go in when the newmans ph3's arrive
What would you recomend to do next?
I'm half tempted to do some free weight saving, trimming looms and cutting out alot of unused brackets etc

For how much and how easy they are to change the standard ones are ok to a degree (not bad for a chocolate diff)
Too low and wheel spinning fucks the boxes

Know on the 106rallye theres some guy who can do light weight car loom.
And could do polycarbonate windows and lightweight battery?

I was going to say a set of cams, management and maybe TB's but I guess that's saved for the next engine?
Other than that, a fibreglass bonnet/boot (£120 each) and perspex windows.

Get over to AK's website trackscotland, there's a guy on there who has a bit of a hardcore 106 That's where I got the idea for a fibreglass bonnet/boot.

what box are you running? If still on the 16v box get a 1.3 rallye or even an xsi box in there.

Weight saving definately, trim any excess plastic from the inside of the bumpers, lose the fogs for rallye inserts, fiberglass boot bonnet doors?perspex windows? trim any brackets you don't need inside the car, cut any excess metal from the doors, rear of car ( thats if you dont change doors) remove carpet, roof lining and door cards, carbon fibre door cards and replace electric windows with winders, replace electric mirrors to manual..there's a lot you can do, depends how silly you want it to be

16v box atm
i've got a 1.6xsi box but thier to long gears like the s2 rallye box
1.3 rallye box has the same ratio's as the 16v box but with a different final drive
1.1 boxes are good very simular ratio wise to the gti boxes but some gears let them down
so im keeping my box options open for the time being

carbon fibre door cards - done
replace electric windows with winders - unsure due to being practical
replace electric mirrors to manual - in process of making cut down manual ones

Didnt think that 1.3 rallyes had same ratio's as 16v boxes??? Theres lots more speed to be had from changing down from 16v to another box!

If you go for the fibreglass bonnet make sure it has the strengthening "X" on it.

Shows that 1.3 rallye boxes have less teeth on the crown/pinion? Surely that would make it so less teeth, spins up quicker > more acceleration > less top end..

GTI box is quite a long ratio, VTR, diesel and furio boxes are the longest I think, 1.3 rallye shortest, 1400 XSI not far off the 1.3, and the 1600 XSI and rallye are slightly shorter than a GTI box.
