I got myself a V3 about a month ago and must say i've been very impressed with it.

It exactly what I was after small, stylish with a good spec. there are other similar spec and styles for the same sort of money i just personally thought the V3 seemed better quality than the rest.

If you get one you wont regret it.

I love the Cybershot U20 (in Sapphire Blue), only 2 megapixels, no zoom, but it's so tiny !

I want it now

elfunkyo - is it worth the money tho, and does the lack of zoom let it down at all?!

P9 is deffo worth the upgrade over the P7.... (aluminium, li-ion battery, and 4Mpix over 3.2MPix)

I've used a P9 briefly. I kinda found it too small hehe. Sony do have great colour depth though.

I got a Nikon Coolpix 4300, which is a bit more, and it's lovely. Only problem with it is focussing in the dark cos it doesn't have a AF Illuminator lamp built in. Seems to do alright without it though....

Personally I think it's worth every penny. there are better spec ones for the same sort cash but i felt they looked a bit cheap and didn't seemed to have the build quality of the V3.

True it only has x2 optical zoom but the digital zoom goes upto about x6 and you'd be surprised how effective it is.

Best bet is to go and speak to someone like Jessops, thats where I got mine, and tell them exactly what you're after. Just so happens they recommended the V3 to me.

Hope this helps.

Who's that to? I take a lot of macro and a lot of clubs. It's nice with the nikon to have lots of 'scene' modes to set it up quickly, but it's got full manual modes.

Quality wise, just worry about getting a good name and a high MPix count. If you want to ever go further than 'point and shoot', make sure you get something will full manual facilities.

yeh ok cool, at the moment its going to be mainly point and shoot, but i suppose it wont harm having a camera with a higher MPix count. Whats the difference between optical and digital zoom?

Optical zoom doesn't affect image quality. Digital zoom basically does a crop and a resize, so it's basically what you could do in photoshop zoom or something. It's crap.

Worry more about the optical zoom (I got 3x)

ok thanks, the only thing that worries me about the canon v3 is that its 2x optical zoom, but 3MPix

Yeah. Look at dpreview.com for reviews on the cameras too.

If you're not worried so much about the size of the camera, then I mean mine is slightly bigger, but it's 4MPix and 3x Optical for only £370....

Oh, and if you're really not worried about size, then a Sony S85 is excellent. More of a SLR sized camera though...
