had a play with a blue VXR8 today, i was nearly pushing him up the road!
looked up on one and they are 6.0 v8, 415 bhp to the wheels!
that compared to my corsa let, would he have shit all over me?
he couldnt belive it when i pulled over and spoke to him!? seems weird, had a huuugeee grin on my face tho!!

See if you can work out the power to weight for both cars.
I would have thought he'd have had the torque advantage though.

They weigh nigh on two tons so the power to weight ratio isn't particularly special. They are 231bhp/ton and a standard (in good condition) LET will be about 200bhp so it'll be about the same. 406ft-lb torque though

He was obviously driving like fanny.. They pull like a freight train once they are moving, very low drag co-efficient and fuck loads of low end torque.

you have chipped ecu and that dont you? so your nearly 300bhp now, so probably close to 300bhp/tonne so should see one off easy without even trying.

he pulled over and spoke to us, he said he was flat out till we ran out off road,
the vxr8 sounded awesome tho! he loved it, if he moved out the way i could of gone past him

So in your 300bhp fwd mechano set you could have beat a 400+ bhp rwd beast?

Seriously you need a re-run and get someone who can drive in the VXR!
Book 0-60 time on the VXR8 is sub 5 seconds. 12 second 1/4 mile.. Be very supprised if a LET'd corsa can get the traction.

there really not that fast, infact i dont like them i did but then i drove one on a vxr trackday and it was shite, the corsa vxr was faster and 10times more fun aound the track. their too big, heavy and the engines are from the stone age, without a supercharger they really leave you feeling flat.

Might be big and lardy but its a integalactic space machine... Plus:
VXR8 = Mans car
Corsa VXR = Gays car
Give me fuck-off massive RWD super barge anyday.. Men steer with the rear not like oversteer like a queer.

They are rocketships. Fact.

Nice of the owner to pull over and have a chat, gentlemens racing

And the VXR8 has far more horsies than your M3, at 60+ weight has very little to play in the equation..
Although would love to see a 6.0 VXR8 V's LET Corsa in a straight line

Weight will have ALOT to do with it 60+ trust me, i have nearly driven into the back of many people on the Mway in my old LET
Its simple power to weight, saying traction etc purely shows you have never driven one
An M5 IIRC only has a power to weight of 260bhp/ton. Not hard for a bean tin with 300bhp to destroy one.
Im not saying what is a better car or that i would rather own etc, just stating the facts.

at 60+ drag is coming into play..
So lets look at the facts:
Torque = Required to shift mass.
Power = Required to over-come drag.
VXR8 = Lardy but shed loads of torque and a very good drag co-efficient.
Yes the Corsa has a good power to weight ratio but it will struggle to put the power down off the line and once its moving its got the drag co-efficient of a house brick.

He'll be out this week getting a supercharger fitted so that doesnt happen again

Drag does come into play, however the corsa isnt lacking in torque and has the power, coupled that with the experience of owning one and the above post about the guy beating one and chatting to the owner, im not sure what your disagreeing with

I was just looking up the drag specs, cant find the VXR8.. Corsa is 0.35 which is terrible but the new Insignia is 0.26 thats bloody amazing!
