Noticed more and more 80s style music popping up, La Roux etc. This has been playing on TV recently too, can't get much more 80s really!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt0IlrQYOxM
Can't say I'm surprised though, the kind of music released recently has been pretty crap, doesn't seem to have an identity somehow... Thoughts?

70s was the best music decade imo, 80s was one of the worst

I don't mind the standard La Roux tunes, but remixed with less 80's and more bass is much, much better.

Jamie T's new tune reminds me of that aswell, everyone is dressing as if it's the 80's now anyway.

Agree with the identity thing, there hasn't been anything different that has suddenly taken off and over like I seem to remember happening, just the odd band.
I always think there is enough old music to get through shite times, just by venturing out of the mainstream down the avenues that take your fancy, always kept me amused.

The 80's have been coming back for the past 2 years. Where have you been Ash?
I first realised it when Calvin Harris released the song, "I got love for you (if you were born in the 80's)".
Fashion has been heading that way for over a year too.

Germany mate. 2 years on May 23rd.
You expect bad fashion sense over here so I didn't realise it was happening back home too.

I like how the longer this thread goes on, the longer it's been since the eighties were back.

It never stopped being roughly 1982 over there from a cultural standpoint eh old bean.
More on topic though, 'Daniel' by Bat For Lashes is a lovely song and happens to be a bit of a mid 1980's wannabe type tune.

Yup, look at the fred perry, sergio tacchini, fila and addidas zippers coming back. Trainers have an 80s vibe, bench tshirts are looking very 80s too.
alphabeat fascination was another 80's influenced song, mgmt electric feel, armand van helden i want your soul. list goes on. 80s was a cool era, im well into 80s style clothing atm.
