Unfortunately after a brilliant day at PVS, I set off home (having drooled all over rob's c20let lol), and driving along the m42, started to lose power, the temp gauge went right up into red, fans kicked in, and then after a bit the temp gauge went right down, pulled off for the next services, got to the top of the slip road where it completely died in a ploom of smoke at the traffic lights, shit! Managed to push it a fair distance into the services. Opened the bonnet to find no coolant in the engine. So when I should have got home for 7pm, I arrived getting on for 10pm with the car behind an AA van (restricted to 50mph because of the tyres on the trailer) sloowww... lol
It appears the water pump is definetly fucked, (I just filled up the system with some water and it pissed it back out through the water pump lol) but in turn I expect the headgasket is also screwed?
Going to ring my garage tomorow and get them to look at, but worst case scenario is a stupidly expensive bill... not sure what to do really

Lol that did cross my mind, not going to lie! The AA bloke said if would possibly cheaper to put a new engine in, only thing putting me off is I was trying to save for a bimmer 3 series lol, yeah the show was worth going for, thought there would have been more there, but I think the weather let things down.

my mates 1.2 corsa C water pump went the other day cost about £150. you'll need the head skimmed which costs about £35-40 and new gaskets.

its more the cool factor and comfort of the bmw than the power lol! Waterpump has deffo gone, went outside this morning to a patch of coolant under the car, topped up the system with water and it pissed back out the pump end. No sign of headgasket failure that I can see, but I'm no expert. Going to ring the garage tomorow and fingers crossed it's just the pump, I need some luck for a change!
I'd sure love a z20let corsa but maybe for another day!

Gutted to hear it mate! Is yours a 1.2? How high did the temp guage go? If it didnt go into the red you may get away with just a water pump. Your best having a compression test done, inspect the engine oil for any signs of water. If you say it burst into a plume of smoke it sounds like you may have blown the head gasket im afraid mate

p.s you should have come on sunday, much more busier!

1.4, and it went into the red alright! Either way i'm not too bothered how much it costs unless it offsets the price I paid for the car lol.

lol DIY something like that? Changing my brake pads was hard enough lol!
Had the report back from the garage, water pump was definetly shot, somehow its taken a cambelt (with only 15k on) with it, its running but misfiring like a bitch and so its bent some valves. Could a cambelt really go just because of the waterpump failure, especially one so new? Headgasket front seems okay though :S hmmm

Consider it I would personally! It looks like a good investment AND it's got the whole Vxr turbo thingy!

Yeah any news from garage?

If this had happened in Jan then it would have been me, you and Kris (supremefaulk) cars down within 2 weeks

Lol I know, don't you just hate cars, I've been driving around in my brothers 1.0 B the past few days now, and my god I'd forgotten how much fun B's are to drive, even for a 12v lol!
