My mates got the nova 1.4 SR runnin 120BHP and he just can't keep up with me!

Whats goin on? He's running bout 30 bhp more than me but just aint nowhere near touchin me.

Fun none the less, I'll let him win next time, hopefully get a good discount on the SR interior he's sellin me

As standard your TD is faster than the SR range to 60mph.

And I very much doubt he has 120bhp

yes

most of the td's on here are running upped boost and deristricted fuel pumps. have a couple more plans to make mine to the 110 bhp mark. and this will cost me the grand total of 70 quid for intercooler, bleed valve and pipeing. hence the good reason to buy a td for tuning

ojc, mine is running 60% extra boost and it doesnt overheat burn oil or anything, it runs fine.

is upping the boost via a bleed valve damaging? How is it done?

no its not damaging, there is a safety cut off valve on the inlet manifold if the boost gets too high anyway.

a bleed valve bleeds off some of the boost into the atmosphere tricking the actuator that it is running a lower boost level than it actually is.

ive got an intercooler to reduce the temp in the engine so that will make it more reliable, also a lot more power. as with every mods yes it will put more strain on car, im gonna have to get an uprated clutch cos the one i have cant handle the torque at the moment as it is.
adam, i want my car reliable and not to totally drink fuel, u can get 125-130 bhp but i dont want to.

Not really, Diesels are robust. you would have a hard job blowing one up.

Properly maintained TD's Run well, and for a long time.

I got myself a garage now. I could fit 5 Nova's in it, so loads of room to spread the engine when i dismantle it.

Gonne get loads of tools, and Just Weld the whole body at stress points, decoke the engine, Maybe have it gas flowed, Polished valves, new cam etc etc

Shes gonna be a mighty beast with that Saab intercooler in it, Bleed valve, Upped fuel.......and if i get a good flow of cash in the future....get rid of turbo for a supercharger
