What a crock of shit Setanta really is. I hope Sky obtain the SPL rights tbh, although ESPN are offering more money and are never going to go under being Disney backed, Sky have shown they can provide a polished product to a wider audience.

How is this going to work, are they going to offer it as a free service on an ESPN channel on sky, or are they going down the Setanta route and you have to subscribe?

Yep...
ESPN said in a statement it had "reached an agreement for its coverage to be retailed by Sky to residential and commercial customers", who will pay extra to view the games.

They're speaking to folk like Virgin Media as well so they can show it on as many places as possible.

Why dont the SPL just create a channel and show the games themselves? If individual clubs can manage it then surely a league can?

its the SPL we are talking about cosmo
the guys in charge of it couldnt run a bath
David Murray predicted this would all happen but the smaller teams voted against going with sky(which at the time was a very good deal)

Difference being Setanta used to have a small cupboard in the STV studios in Glasgow when they started. ESPN are absolutely massive and are backed by Mickey Mouse.

Thats true, and they will have a shed load more cash that Shatanta, but I doubt they'll want to be losing ££££'s every season.
Guess it all depends on what the coverage is like. Wonder if they will have adverts at every free-kick and thrown in like they do in the USA

Setanta were losing £100m a season werent they? According to one thing I read anyway.
I cant see Mickey Mouse wanting to miss out on some nice pieces of cheese to fund a losing battle.

I read it in a report on digitalspy or something, Lex Gold was quoted. I would have no problem believing a broadsheet newspaper anyway like The Guardian who have also reported it.
