Right, i'll start off im a complete n00b when it comes to suits and what looks good at different occasions. I'm looking for a kind of 'all rounder' suit, if you get me?
Im looking to get one from John Lewis as i get 25% off.
I want it to look pretty swish if im going to weddings etc in it, but then again i don't want it to be OTT if im going for job interviews in it etc.
Not particularly bothered about colour, whether it be black or grey, although i would like a pinstripe one
Choices are here:

If you fancy a cheap-ish fitted suit I would go to Zara. They are perfect for going out in and special occassions. Dont know whether they are appropriate for interviews though.

I dont wear a suit to an interview, I just wear the trousers, shirt and possibly a tie, with some decent shoes as well obv.
Maybe this is where I am going wrong

TBH, i've just had a proper look through the JL ones and they don't look all that great. Even with discount there looking £200+.

I've always liked Next suits but if you're getting 25% off then it worth looking in JL. Can't go wrong with a black suit. Subtle pin stripe if you wish.

Matalan; I have a Marks and Spencer suit for work normally (day to day is jeans and T-Shirt but meeting customers is more formal) but the other week went into Matalan and they have suits for £40; jacket + trousers. The cut/fit was fantastic and the quality seems reasonable; they had a few in quite a modern, clean design. I bought a grey one and it stood up to a week of abuse at a show last week.
For £40, you can't grumble either as it seems like it'll last well.
For more serious occassions weddings etc I have a dark blue Hugo Boss suit which I bought in the states; but I wouldn't wear it for work.

Too hard to tell from those pics, even when zoomed in. You're best just to go and try some on and see what suits you (no pun intended).
I'd say the fit of the suit is more important than the style (within reason).

If you want a bargain take all your measurements then go scouring on ebay! I bought a suit for £50 that had been taylored for someone with the same measurements as me, fits like a glove and saved me £100's!
Or order from china/thailand, you can get a fully taylor made suit for peanuts, just takes ages!

I didn't think about Next, theres one just down the road too, i might have a run down later. Like i said though, the pinstriped ones at JL are quite expensive, even with discount..

Are slaters a national chain or are they just up here?
You can't get a better place to buy a suit.

They have one of those in Liverpool. They have more than enough variety to suit anyone.

Yeah you'll pay a bit more in Next, around £130 but the styles, cut and fit are spot on for me. As others have said though Matalan and a few other places sell cheaper suits, machine washable and good fit for half that or less.

I'm telling you for a fitted suit which isnt baggy and looks cheap you can't go wrong with Zara suits.
You will pay £150 for a nice fitted new style one.

was just gonna suggest this, they have them all over.
i've only ever bought 2 suits, got them both from Slaters. They are shit hot and the staff know everything about suits. they do free alterations in store and even alter stuff whilst you wait in some cases. they also do free alts after you've bought the suit. i had my pants taken in a little a year after i bought my last one cause i lost a bit of weight.
i personaly wouldn't go for a pin stripe as an all rounder. my all rounder is charcoal grey, almost black. i've used it for weddings, christenings, funerals and court
my pin stripe only ever comes out for weddings or race trips when i'm trying to look swanky!
