Been on the look out for one of these since borrowing Ste and Helens 206 at Combe in April. My first drive in a Peugeot was nice and I liked it but in order to return I wanted my own car to break. This left me with a choice to make and while something French was a possibility, it would be more than my life was worth to buy the popular choice of a 106 GTi. Plus I don't like the pedals.
So something else interesting. Well I remember Tiff loved these when they came out and they're still fairly quick out of the box. And also good value if you don't mind a tatty one.
Had tax and test for a further two days but as the owner had already moved his insurance on to another vehicle it didn't have a policy associated with it therefore I couldn't drive it TP on my own policy.
Took this while he was being strapped for the journey.
And home.
It's a 1.7 so 125 brake as standard (and felt quick around the yard, no reason to doubt it's healthy). Need a clutch as its slippier than a box of frogs and I'm going to probably change brakes, give it a proper service and commence stripping.
I was going to also post about a knock on the rear end but Ste has just wobbled the spare wheel rack to reveal a brand new spare which fell out of the rusty rack. Easy fix
Can't wait for September now!

Good stuff. Very underated car. I thought it was bullshit untill i had a go in one. Look like a girl car, but seriously dont drive like one
Pretty nippy, first gear is full on dog shit. Its got a limiter on it to stop wrekin the gearbox, and you can take it out, but the speedo stops working in first gear.
Mine turned over 100k other week and all have had to replace is the heater control valve which cost £20 quid. Expensive to insure though.
Im a young nipper and it cost me nearly dobule to insure this than it does my old 1.4 sport.
Miles faster than one though. Didnt realise untill i got a friend to drive my puma and then i drive my old sport !
Ive never tracked mine and i can imagine it to be brilliant though.
Gay cars ftw

Not sure what do with the brakes really. It won't be road legal so I can't run them in. Plus the ones that are one look OK. Brought the service history home to see when it last had them.

My bird has one of these and i love driving it.
Compared to my 225TT, you can throw it around, it handles brilliantly. Engines okay, gear change is great on them.

Might need head lights and a tail light. Heads look like they've been cleaned with something abrasive and it's taken the surface off the plastic and yellowed them.
Tail light is misted.
Other than that it is OK I think but I'll let you know if I need anything.
Very cheap Nic yes

Seats, harnesses, steering wheel and boss are ordered
Spotted some nearly new R888 on Ebay in 16, which would require new wheels. Now to find some cheapo old school Ford fitment rims and get them refurbed in gunmetal

Cracking car. The engine is so responsive and the handling is brilliant. Love driving my Mums even though its not as fast as my car its bloody good fun.
The Pedals and driving position are better than a 106 or Saxo too. Can imagine one with some choice mods would make a great track car

Great little cars, i found the seating position to be abit hight but im sure buckets and lower rails would sort it.
Good buy and nice to see something different.
Another thought front lower strut brace realy tightents the steering up.
