Every now and then, could be an half an hour after i switch my laptop on, could be 5 hours, my internet just dies.
The little globe stays infront of the 2 screens near the time but when i 'diagnose and repair' this comes up:

I have no idea what it means?

I've also noticed that it dies quicker/more often when im in my room(which is the next room to the router) than when im downstairs.

Any help will be much appreciated.

either a dhcp problem, lease is running out and perhaps the signal isnt good enough to renew?

or wireless in the first place, the signal could be wank from your room.

Could the signal be wank even if im 5 foot away from router, just a studded wall in the way?

I have no idea what a DHCP problem is, or whether my lease is running out

hm.

Try noting down the ip address of the laptop (and the subnet mask and default gateway and dns servers) and set your wireless card to use it manually. See if that fixes it

check the status of your wireless card and there should be a 'details' tab or some shit, then note down your ip address, subnet mask, default gateway and DNs servers...

sweet.

So

IP address: 192.168.1.3
subnt mask: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS server: 192.168.1.1

Now you want to change your IPv4 settings on the wireless card from Automatic to Manual and give it the details I've written out above.

Once these are applied try surfing the net, if that doesnt work then go back to automatic...

Nobody else had this problem?

no hes only posting his private ip address, about a BILLION people probably have the same setup

Maybe try looking at the laptop manufacturer's website to see if there is an updated driver, might be an issue with that.

Can't see there being in the way and interfearing as my laptop is about 6-8foot away from my router.

Tried resetting it a fair few times. TBH it only ever started when talk talk sent out a 'newer and better' router?

I'll have a bash on the HP website now ta Will.
