what would you say was the best handling car you could buy for around £1000-£1500? i have just bought a 106 gti which are suppose to be really good at handling but i find it terrible?

so whats better for that price range?

depends if the 106 is standard? most people just slam it on its arse which affects the handling and is more for looks

Must be something fucked, mine handles much better than my corsa did, but prefered my 306 for handling tbh.

yeah standard.. im not sure if the back axles ok, this is what i think mite be wrong but i dont know how to tell if its ok or not?

Lower the 106 70mm front and 20mm. It'll handle spot on.

The rear wheels should set vertical,not camberd. Jack it up check for play all ways. A well set up 106 with all good condition bearings/bushes and a set of stiff dampers should out corner most things. Especially Corsas.

thats what i always thought untill i owned one, i know theres something deffo wrong with it, ill just have to have a play untill i find out whats wrong

just got a vts and prefer the handling to the civic type r


Seems more "chuckable" and has more feel.


35mm lower on blistien shocks and springs with the bar set to match

Drives supercharged Tec with torque

backend slides way too much, spun out going round a round about the other day only doing 40mph and it was a big round about and i wasnt racing round there, just going round as normal.. and in the wet the backend tried to come out at every possible time, even when doing 30mph driving normal it slides

Yeah back trailing arm bushes,unless its been smashed and is buckled. Nothing else should really cause it to handle like the above.

30 just for the bearings/bushes but its a tricky job to fit.
