Is there any legal thing, a law I guess which states your pay day must be stable (i.e. same date each month) or are employers free to pay you as randomly as they see fit
For example, I used to get paid on 15th every month......for almost 2 years. Now they've changed it & only said 'it will be later in the month'.
Last 2 pay days -
May - Wednesday 20th.
June - Monday 22nd.
July - Still not been paid.
I know some places pay on the last say Thursday in the month, so the actual day can change but this takes the piss!!
Am I right to phone up & ask wtf's going on if its not in by tomorrow??

I'd phone and ask, you could have direct debits set to a certain date which it could be fucking up, etc for all they know.

My birthday was the 20th May, what's your excuse for not getting me a present if you were just paid?
Lolz, but seriously I'd have thought it should be the same every month. Is it a large company or a smaller operation?

Certainly wouldn't be standing for random days in the month to pay you

My thoughts exactly, what does your contract say? Surely it's in there...

At the Co-op I got paid on the 28th each month to begin with, then they changed it to every 4 weeks so it was always different. Now I get paid on the last working day of each month, which happens to be the last day of the month this tine, and I need petrol

Yeah that's a bit weird. If they don't tell you what their deal is, say you have some Vaseline handy
