Injuries aside, pick a starting 11 based on abilty.
For me:
James
Johnson Ferdinand Lescott Cole
Beckham Gerrard Carrick Cole
Rooney Owen
Although, I'd rather have Hargreaves in for Carrick, but he will never play again

I'd rotate the two. Either give Becks 60mins and bring on Walcott, or vice versa.

For me though Crouch is better with his feet then his head. He's a skillful guy.

Yup, totally agree. I actually dont think he is anything special at heading the ball.

Its ashame really. If he was good with his head he'd be so dangerous!

He isn't particularly great at heading no, but there is a good chance he'll win 9/10 crosses with his height, so he'll eventually get one.

That would be mine except with Beckham for Walcott. Crouch has to play imo, excellent record for England.

He doesnt win that many though thats the point. If he is up against even a semi-decent defender they'll beat him to 90% of crosses.

tbh I did debate in having Beckham there - but I think we'd need the pace of Walcott in that sort of formation.

I'd probably rotate Becks and Walcott. Both can do a job.
I chose Gibbs because I hate Ashley Cole. In a couple of years that position will be Gibb's anyway.

Not to mention the fact that alot of the time he does win a tussle and the header the refs blow up, wound me up a treat at pompey

James went off injured (I think) in our friendly today with rangers, and thats only his second appearance of pre season after shoulder surgery, So its not a massive suprise.

Aye, he does get a bad time from the refs due to his height.
