It is rank, but does get you fucked. The stuff sold in the UK is quite soft compared to what you can get in Spain etc. The stuff Tesco sell (in NI) is poor.

The traditional ritual for serving absinthe is to pour ice-cold water over a cube of sugar that is resting on a slotted spoon. Typically 3 - 5 portions of water to one portion of absinthe. The slotted spoon is suspended over a glass with the portion of absinthe. The cold water dissolves the sugar, both entering the glass to mix with the absinthe. As the cold water mixes with the absinthe, it clouds, this effect is called the "louche".

last absinthe i bought was from la sirenis shop in es cana ibiza in sept 2007 and it was only 9.66 euro for mari mayans 70%

Sebor Absinth from Tesco is one of the better ones available in the UK as it has the maximum allowed levels of Thujone which is the psychoactive element of the Woodworm found in Absinth. A lot of the these 85% bottles aren't even authentic.
