Alright,

My best mate is getting married next month and im best man, so i need to take him to the church etc...
Wont look good turning up in a shit-heap 106 with a bean can exhaust so im looking into getting hold of something tidy for the weekend, im not talking supercar as im only 22 so insurance would be an issue.

Anyone got any ideas? Money is tight due to me buying a house, stag do, wedding etc.. so the cheaper the better!

Do any garages do a weekend 'test drive' these days?

Cheers

Tried the usual car hire places, you get a 'compact mini' for my age, which is something like a Chevrolet Matiz, would rather turn up by bus!

Why are people suggesting vectra/mondeo?

Might as well just book a taxi.

Yeah a mate has a BMW 645Ci but i cant insure it!

A BMW, Merc, Audi would be ideal, even something like an A4 diesel, doesnt have to be fast, just nice looking. Wish i still had the S3, would have taken that!

Try phoning your current insurer and see if they will cover it for the day. Endsleigh were willing to do it for me when I was buying my Ibiza

What cars do your parents have? If their cars are up to the job, how about getting them to put you on their policy for a day? When I was 20, Norwich Union would add me to my Mum's policy for £30 for 7days

Im taking the groom to his wedding next weekend. He asked me to get him a car.
Started with an S500l, then changed it to a CL500 and now I have a GL500.

Your best bet due to your age would be to find a family member or friends parents who maybe willing to let you borrow their car and add you to the insurance policy imo

I'm going to set up a wedding car firm the amount I've done recently; borrowed Dad's X Type and decked it out with Bows and Ribbons and flowers on the parcel shelf - it looked the part and we've had a few close friends get married recently; saved them a small fortune in hiring cars

can you not get your mate with the bmw to throw a suit on and drive you's up.

would look better you's both getting out the car at the front door instead of parking it in the car park and walking round.

Thanks for the suggestions, think a rental company is outa the question.

Mums car is a 2004 Megane CC, Dads got a TVR Chimera.

Its my job to do it, im offering. He has already got enough to sort out.
