Agreed, why have a car that looks good but gets over taken by a £200 banger

in fairness, there's little point owning a Fast car nowadays with the chance of getting caught/losing your license etc.
I'd want a good looking car, which handled and picked up well over something which was out and out speed.
I've got a 207hp A3 - I reckon I use full power 1% of the time - for the rest I'm stuck in traffic or there are cameras etc so I'm under 3000rpm.
It also comes down to what you class as fast? I had a 1.2 corsa LS and it was fun; it handled reasonably well and put a smile on my face driving it - the Audi doesn't

The Wouldn't be fun as It isn't that sort of car
Its more a comfort car
Corsa was a fun car for me running about 130bhp with no interior
I now have an Mr2 turbo and thats not as fun

Sorry, but that's just daft. I for one use my car the way it's meant to be used, going slow around built up busy areas and opening it up on the country roads or quiet motorways. Basically, if you're sensible enough you can defientely drive a fast car fast - you just need to pick the place carefully. I wouldn't say there's little point in having a fast car anyway, that's the kind of attitude that's going to make electric cars take over.

out and out speed IS pointless for a roadcar; handling and acceleration/pickup (as I said) are the most important things

I thought speed meant an all round sorted car tbh, not just a bit of metal with a V8 and wheels on it. Acceleration is definetely to do with speed I'd say as well though. And if I has a fast car the handling would be sorted.
I think the question should be looks or performance.
