hi all. thought i would start a project thread about mine and me mates v6 corsa.

we have both been down the redtop corsa root and loved them so this time thougth that we do something abit more challanging and take on the a v6. so here we go.

we sourced an engine off ebay that was still in the car at the time and fully running with recent history for service on the it.

we ended up winning the engine for cheao £100 for the engine loom ecu and box. well suited.

so after a settin off at 8 in the morning for a 2 hour drive to get it. we set about takin it out.

after 8 very long and grooling hours and one broken hand we ended up with this

its a shame the lad was breaking the calibra because it was in mint condition and pulled like a train.

once we got it home we then set about stripping the engine off the gear box, clutch and the fly wheel to change it for the redtop set-up as we are going to be usin the F20 gearbox. we also stripped the engine of the loom and all the intakejus to make it that little bit easier to put into the corsa when we put it in.

here's a pictre of all the stuff we took off the engine

and the gearbox

and the engine when we'd done

also gave the inlet a bit of a polish

then as we took the rocker covers off just to check everything was ok we found there was alot of oil in the spark plug chamber of cylinder 1.

so got the old turkey baster out and some kitchen role and got it all out.

any way with the engine awaitin gear box, flywheel and clutch we set about lookin for a corsa and came across this little beauty for £200

arden blue with anthracite bumpers and spoiler. not really likin the spoiler so going to replace it with a blue one. has had a full repsray 4 weeks ago. the car is registered as a 1 litre but has either a 1.2 or a 1.4 in. the owner wasn't very accurate with it.

set to takin the engine out tonight and came across a problem already. who ever put the engine in has bodged all the wiring loom to the dash board so going to have to try and sort that out at weekend. only took an hour to get the engine out so that a bonus

anyway some pics of the engine out and the car

just to show you how high it really sits

plans are to strip the back of it out and put a false floor in with some audio in it. not sure what yet. fit a roll cage in it and 2 bucket seats. just need to get the wiring sorted with it as that is causing a problem. also waiting on specky to get his arse into gear and modify the exhuast manifold and make up the engine mounts for us.

any input welcome and appreciated

thanks for looking.

It's the early XE's that have a lighter flywheel.

well after a busy weekend i managed to have a quick look at the corsa. wish i hadn't bothered. the dash board loom has been bodged in so many different places that its going to need a new one. also the fuel pump has been bodged with 2 wires which look like speaker cable. will have pics of the damage durin week when set about taking all the dash board out tp replace the loom.

so why did you change your late to a early if there heavyer? 3.0 come from omegas not calibras but you use the sump and exhaust off the 2.5 to convert them to fwd not rwd

for the fly wheel we'll be running lightened and balanced flywheel from chirs ashley.

few more updates.

the more we looked that the wiring in the engine bay the worse it got. this is wat we found

so we decided the best bet was just to replace the entire dash board loom so that we no its going to be right instead of trying to trace it back. so we set bout takin all dash out which want as hard as first thought

the bodged fuel pump wasn't as bad as we first though. although how it stayed together is a miracle.

the wires were just twisted together and had insulation tape on them. with the earthe for the pump strapped to the seat belt bolt. lol.

so took the loom off that goes under the car for the tank and soldered it all back together.

then after we had all the sorted we set to stripping all the interior out to remove all the sound deadening.

found the only bit of rust on the entire car aswel which is quiet good seeing as though it is a 1998

not bad to say we only spent about 4 hours doing it.

well its been a while since i last put a post on hear so thought i would give it abit of an update. well alot of an update. got alot done in the past few weeks after losing all intrest in it completely. then decided i had to get me arse into gear and do summat. so here's whats happening.

in january i ordered the engine mount for it off chris astley but as we all no unfortonately they went bust. so thought about what to do and decided i was going to try and fabricate one of my own at work.
the first engine mount

then after getting some more measurements i came up with this.

all thanks to work. lol.

i then decided that i was to cheap to pay for a clutch tool so once again work came in handy to make one

then after getting hold of a gearbox and clutch (thanks to Stu_c) and a very cheap flywheel i got it all put onto the engine.

then decided that it would be agood idea to cut the landin panel off so it would alot easier to get the engine in and out.

then had a trial fit of the engine jus to make sure the engine mount was ok

then it came to doin the interior. i just wanted something that was going to be quick easy and look good once done. so after thinkin of some ideas my mate said why not try underseal. after laughing at the idea i thought it was actually a good idea. so on to the shop to get some.

so after an hour this was the result

very impressed with the results to be honest.

then came to doing the shit job of putting all the dash board in. after 1 long hour and some cuts i ended up with this.

then after a good nights sleep i ended up with this

also picked the exhuast up for £30. not bad

fitted with the tinted lights i had from my previous corsa

i then managed to pick up another front manifold to modify the down pipes. picked it up for a tenner. then it took me 2 hours to align the manifold up as it was about 3 inch out. probably not the best welding i've ever done but if it gets the job done. lol

next on the list is to get the engine in and make the exhaust up on the corsa. hopefully this will be at the weekend weather permitting.

any comeents or ideas are more than welcome

Awesome project. Will be keeping an eye on this 1.
2 quick Qs tho....Why have you went for an F16WR and what have you done to the rear manifold to stop it fouling the steering rack??

its just what i found at the time. plus will make it accelerate really hard (aslong as it holds out). an F20 wil be bought when its all sorted just to be on the safe side. for the rear manifold the best and easiest way is to get 2 front manifolds. when you put one on the back its out by about 3 inches thats why ive had to modify the down pipe. ya can use the standard rear but its alot harder to modify. you also have gove the heat shield quiet a beatin to get the front one on the bak but it does go.
