Posted this in GC a while ago so thought I' post it in here now that its on its way back together..
Been annoyed with how tatty the bikes been for a while so decided to not re-tax it and rebuild it properly over the winter. Took a day to get it completely stripped and the frame and other bits and bobs are away being coated just now. Will be built from scratch with everything, coated, painted or replaced apart from the engine because might be changing it if I can get a 9r cheap enough.
Sold all the bodywork as its going to be track fairings and a daytime mot when its finished.. Just need to remember where everything goes now.
Frame came back from coaters this morning so I've temporarily stuck the front end on so I can do a lot of the rebuild before taking front apart. Engine is in and wired up, carbs on, swingarm on, plus takin a lot of weight out of it.
How it sits after todays effort, kind of stuck now till my new bolts arrive.. Wheels and tank are away to coaters to be done white next week aswell

7R's are good bikes. I'll watch this one closely.
Well worth getting the frame powder coated, I got my old Bandit's frame done and the finish was simply amazing. Better than new.
Then wheels, nicely done fairings, few bits of carbon fibre here and there, and it'll be lovely.

Aye he did a good job. Took proper cmera with me today and got a fair bit done. Loom is all in and tidied up and airbox, cables etc..

Getting there... Radiator, exhaust and all wiring done. new engine casing bolts and all brackets an that back on now.

That's really impressive. I don't know much about bikes at all.
Was it a lot of work to get it stripped down as much as you did?

Not really.. Maybe a days work not rushing to get everything off it. Taken a lot longer to build it back up because I'm not wanting to mark the frame and everything is being tidied up on the way, like the loom etc has been re-wrapped.

To be honest I was planning on doing it over a few months but I've been so quiet during the days with callouts I've spent most days in the garage working on it.
Managed to snap a front disc bolt today so thats going to get helicoiled tommorow. tanks away being done just now aswell. Bank accounts taking a hammering..

Not skimping either, putting all new parts on. Fair play. Might just be my eyes but make sure you put a split pin in the nut for the chain adjuster.

New parts? not much new on it to be honest, just all cleaned and painted. Only new stuff is bodywork really.
Good spot with the pin, did it just after that photo..

I always used to wonder how people used to spot those things when I first started getting into bikes, now I find myself doing it
Sprocket and chain look brand new, you use petrol?

Arite, there only a couple months old.. Never been dirty..
Disc bolts fixed now and wheels painted so just got to pick tank up tommorow then ave got to make the fairings fit.

Thats actually a really good fitting track kit! The one for my 748 was terrible! Where did you get it as i'll be needing one for my RS250 track bike project
