Some of you may remember I was assulted back in May this year when this happened...
Well I've been in court Monday, Tuesday, today and i'm due back in tomorrow for the verdict from the jury.
I found out today that the accused's wife is 5 months pregnant and if her husband is found to be guilty he could go away for up to 5 years because of his previous convictions. Now, even though I have no reason to, I feel quite guilty about the whole situation.
I don't think for one minute that the accused should be let away just because his wife is expecting, but I feel bad that its not just going to be him thats getting punished. She's could be left without a husband and the baby could spend the first few years of its life without a dad.
I was speaking to her for a while today, and she seems like a really nice girl and I actually feel really sorry for her.
The one good thing is that I don't think she'll struggle financially as she appeared on Deal or No Deal a while back and she won £50,000.

If only I had found this out sooner as i'm sure I could have been tempted to take a bribe

So the fella she's shagging is going to jail, rightly so, means that she gets to spend more of the 50k on herself, and the baby will probably be raised better instead of by some bellend who attacks random people on nights out.
Good every way really

im not saying this makes it any better cause it doesnt look like it was a 1 punch job, but was there a cause for the assault or was he just pissed?

Yeah, she played on as she would have, did the swap and brought the £250k to the table.

He wasn't pissed. He was just pissed off.
His mate got thrown out of the club and he started getting wound up and really aggressive. I told him to calm down, so he punched me.
T'was just the one punch, but it was a cracker (literally).

Don't feel guilty mate! He deserves what's coming to him. If he has previous then he sounds like a scum bag who will never learn! He won't get 5 years anyway, you know what our sort judges are like.

I have given my evidence, and so has she, so its fine.
Its actually going to be quite an interesting day tomorrow.
To stop the accused going to jail, his mate (who has a clean record) has stepped forward and said that he was the one who hit me.
The wife has also stood up in court and said the same. So, if the accused is found not guilty then he will be free and the innocent man will be arrested and charged with serious assault, if the accused is found to be guilty, then the best mate and the wife will be charged with perjury.

So his mate who has come forward must be getting a decent cut of the 50k then!
Fingers crossed for him to be found guilty and all of them to get in the shit imo

That is just absolute stupidity. I have no idea why you are feeling guilty when they are all quite clearly idiots. She'd be better off without him by the sounds of it.

To be honest thats what i thought too.
I can't imagine he'd put himself in the shit just to be a good mate.
I really hope he does get found guilty, but the accused hired a Queens Councillor to represent him in court and he's bloody good at what he does. He's done a good job at painting a slightly different painting for the Jury.

I know in my own mind I shouldn't be feeling guilty, but I just can't help it. I'm too much of a sap for my own good

So you have had a polite conversation with this woman despite her testifying that it was the blokes mate that hit you and you saying it was her bloke?

Yeah
It all sounds a bit funny, but its not a tense atmosphere in the court. Even though we're from different sides, we all seem to have the same "shit happens" and "whatever will be, will be" attitude.

If it was a one off, maybe I'd feel a bit of guilt. But the fact he's had previous convictions, fuck him. Serves him right when he gets out of jail and wonders why the bairn calls his best mate "daddy"

Well not really, he has a whatever attitude but you have a he needs punishing attitude!
As the mixed emotions, fuck him. Most murderers, rapists etc probably have kids but they still did what they did.
His kid will probably be better off without him in their lives.

Did you have any witnesses like your mates or anything on your side in court?
As that way it would be you and your witnesses saying it was the accused, and then the accused and his wife saying along with that innocent man saying it was him...
