What are you talking about, I'm saying that imperial units are annoying, not that I don't use them. I have to use them if I were to find them annoying

Plus there's not much wrong with MPH because it's very rare that you have to deduce anything much from it. It's inches of mercury, imperial gallons, US gallons, inches, feet, pounds, imperial tonnes, stone e.t.c... that are the problem.

We dont/shouldnt really.

Most milk in supermarkets will be sold in ml not pints, and you tend to have to buy meters of stuff now not in feet.

Cant even go and order some 2 by 2 now, its 60mm by 60mm or whatever it is.

In day to day stuff I would say, like that guy over there is 6 foot and has a boat that is 20 foot long, lets play golf with him see how many yards his drive is then have a pint after, he needs his engine bored out 20 thou too, some say he has a 2 inch cock.

Yeah but you cant buy many/any things that arent metric any more. Of course you'll always get the things like a person giving their height, etc. in it as its force of habit.

One of the lathes I use has an imperial compound slide and the tail stock is in metric. Also, some of the bolts on it are metric and some are imperial. I don't know where it came from, but it fails at life.

I heard it mentioned on local radio the other day "there are less and less people able to use the imperial measurement system, most kids nowadays are only able to use metric"

what a stupid comment I thought.

I ment things like using pints for drinks and miles per hour for speeds but litres for most other measures, and meters for distances.

The only time you use pint for a drink is when you order a drink like beer or a soft drink in a pub or restaurant. All other drinks are sold in CL's, ML's or L's. Miles and MPH are used simply because the conversion to KM and KMH would be enormous and wouldn't actually serve any purpose.

You should get timber in mm measurements, it's always marked in mm. Certain sizes you can ask for inches and they'll give it to you without any bother, but certain sizes don't exist anymore which is why old people often say metric is a con because you can't get massive floorboards anymore.
