If it's the one I posted it's still doing me fine.

I've just got some Meguiars #80 to refine the finish, the harsh 3m fastcut I was using has taken away all the scratches but left me with some swirls.

I'll update when I've had time to do it.

That's same as mine, it goes as slow as you'd need, can't remember what it is atm, I'll have a look.

As said, best not to practice on a good car.

I only used 3m fastcut because I had it in the garage, I probably wouldn't have picked it because it looked fairly expensive when I was looking for finer polishes.

I only had a quick look last weekend and the #80 looked a perfect combination of price and cut, there are loads more choices than that though.

I was under the impression that you dont only use one polish though? like one abrasive polish then a finishing one..?

Depends on the paint mainly and various other factors.

Sometimes it does require 2, I was just trying to be as cheap as possible.

All of the polish manufacturers have various grades, Rich H would be able to advise better, also worth having a look on detailing world.

I'm quite happy to learn as I go because I'm not worrying about the car, if it was paint I couldn't afford to damage I wouldn't have used the first thing I had lying about.

Yeah i understand, thanks for the info really helped, looks like im going to need a more harsh one than Meguiars #80 as i have read up and it says from light to moderate swirls, whereas im looking to get rid of some light scratches too

Oh but i know its something thats used after a more harsh polish though.

then i would get a product that was a light abrasive as you can always give it another pass.. i realy like super resin pollish but its quite filler heavy and will leave a fair bit of dust but it does fill minour blemashes, then followed with a good ether natural wax or synth wax and your onto a winner..
i keep asking for a da polisher for christmas but no one will get me one

yes and if you don't have the power/speed/heat to break down certain diminishing abrasives then you will be inflicting swirls on your cars

Sorry, please don't listen to UGH as he is misadvising

You should never take a polisher over 3000rpm anyway as it will build up heat too quickly and you will burn through.

Lime Prime is a fairly light abrasive so will be fine with a polishing pad, it will correct but not achieve miracles. Lime Prime Lite will do bugger all as it contains no abrasives at all - it's a glaze, nothing else.

Why would you want it to go faster than 3000 ??

Edit - Rich Beat me to it

is that cheap one a DA?

am sure the DAS-6 and G220 go up to 6500rpm? and i've used these machines at this speed with an aggresive polish and pad and not had a problem. Surely that all depends on your paint.

lime prime lite does contains micro-abrasives and with the right pad you can correct some paintwork.

i'd always advise starting with the lightest cut you can.

Please stop advising when you are talking out your backside.

The one posted is a rotary - a completely different kettle of fish to a DA polisher. Hence why DA's do indeed go up to speed 6 (not 6000 rpm)

Lime Prime Lite DOES NOT contain abrasives. Lime Prime does. FFS I work with the stuff day in day out and am a Dodo Authorised Detailer

I'm scared of that one at 3000RPM, I've not had the guts to even try that on my old astra yet.
