Was just reading that while on my dinner.

What a shocking name. Newcastle fans aren't happy by all accounts, expected protest outside the ground this weekend planned from what I hear.

Was just reading this
I don't mind the idea of selling the rights to the name if it's going to bring in a decent investment. This however doesn't.

Can't really imagine anyone paticuarly commentators calling it this anyway. It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue like the Emirates

Will still be known and called St James's Park by most!

Edit - Seems a silly choice as their will be no immediate cash injection for the club, just increased revenue for Sports Direct

I am really starting to wonder if this Guy has some sort of Death Wish. If he carries on the way he's going I could really see one of our many idiot fans doing him harm!

Am I the only one that doesnt see the problem with this?

They have done it in a way where everyone will call it St James' Park, other than a nice big sign and when they are on TV or in the media. Where is the harm in that?

And the guy has just pumped yet another £20m of his own money in to the club, so if he wants the sign up then so be it

Oh and from what Ive read, its purely a short term thing to show potential sponsors what is available and how it would work, so next season it'll be something else.

I got thats what he was doing, but I bet you would be mightily pissed if Hicks and Gillet did the same to Anfield and called it The Budweiser Stadium for example!

The new stadium is going to sell its name, its life, I dont like it but if it brings in another £5-10m a year then so be it.

It'll still get called Anfield by fans, its only in the media that they'll print the name, so who cares.

Who was it on here that said The Emirates would never be referred to as 'The Emirates', but the 'Arsenal Stadium'.

oRbbo?

TBH the mistake the Emirates made is that they never even tried to incorporate the Highbury name in to it, if they did then fans would of called it that.

No, "Highbury" was actually called Arsenal Stadium (much like Upton Park is actually the Boleyn Stadium)... agree that Emirates should have tried to incorporate som, ething Arsenaly about it but hey ho. The regulars call it Ashburton Grove
