Although my sensible answer that you are after is get some of that stuff that you stick to the inside. Will hold it together etc and shouldnt be noticable then.
No idea what its called, go into a fabric shop and ask

I got exactly the same 90 degree shape rip in my coat a little while ago, although mine is a bit bigger. My temporary solution is brown tape on the inside, not great when it rains. I'm going to try and find a zip that goes round 90 degrees and stick that in there I think that will look better than some bodged sewn up hole
