i was lookin at the weights of corsa's and it seems most corsa 1.4/1.6 sport and gsi's are around the 1300/400 kg mark to me this is fucking heavy considering all the cars in its class like the saxo vtr weigh only 930 kg that is a 30% loss in weight compared to the corsa, i even noticed my corsa is heavier than the calibra 2.0 16v eh what went wrong?????? if the corsa only weight 950 kg's i think it would fuckin fly and i literally mean fly 400 kg's is basically 2 motorbikes in weight sittin on the corsa compared to the saxo

they dont weigh that much thats the gross weight with four passengers and their luggage! 1400 is 989kg and 1600 is 1029kg but what i cant work out is what the hell is the extra 40kg! they r both near identical cars inc aircon wheels seats etc. the only real diff is bigger brakes and 10mm wider tyres

The difference is called build quality mate. Any French fool can make a lighter weight car out of biscuit tin material.

Thats so true.
My car weighs just under a ton. Even with the extra bits i've added Makes for a nippy and very responcive car.

well read all the magazines they state the corsa sri to weigh 1320 kg's and the saxo vtr to be 930 kg's so that means if the real weight of a corsa sport is 989kg's then the saxo must weigh about 550 kg's this is the true weight no wonder there slower than most in there class they weight loads lol

Corsa 120 - I'm sorry I can't put it any other way, but you must be a bit dense. The kerb weight is the weight of the unladen car and the gross weight is what is can carry loaded to the hilt. The kerb weight for Corsas (given in any Vauxhall handbook) are as Rick has stated. And do you honestly believe that you could load up your car with an extra tonne of weight and expect it to remain driveable?? A corsa plus contents weighing nearly 2.5 tonnes

Even though I'm biased (I hate French cars and I hate the French too) I honestly believe that it's down to the Corsa's stronger and thicker panels and structural design.

but surely in a magazine, if they take one weight, they must use the same weight for other vehicles as well, not one kerb weight, and the other gross weight and all that crap...?!

early 1.4 sports didnt have abs and pas as std?
Is the difference there?
As for the second figure on the vin plate im guessing its a train weight ie the max weight of car and trailer.
