it doesnt take really any concentration to smoke while driving other than lighting a tab.

in my opinion worse.
Drop your phone "shit dropped my phone, call ended"
Drop your ciggie "SHIT BURNING MYSELF/SEATS!! *Jump around swerving over the road*"

Deffinatly, you still have take your eyes off the road to find them etc. If you want to smoke you should pull over.

Coming from watching people smoke and drive i would say not quite as bad but still a danger, dropping fag ash on a seat then trying to find it while driving is scary.

I used to do it, at times it could be as bad as using a phone, used to effect me more due to the fact I could only really fully use one hand with having the cigarette in the other.
But since I have my new car I never smoke in it or whilst driving, smell is awful

you have to change gear in a car, thus meaning you are removing a hand from the wheel for a similar amount of time. i find that a completely irrelevant point tbh.

fags are nowhere near as bad a phoning imo, i smoke behind the wheel, i dont take my eyes off the road, i know where my fags and lighter are (door pocket) dont need to look when sparking up. did flick one out the window for it to fly back in and land inbetween my seat and spine tho. i just lent back and stubbed it out. hurt but stopped me spacking out and killing anyone

just as bad as using a mobile.
same with eating at the wheel.
but then the same could be said for changing radio stations / turning the heaters on etc etc.
list goes on and on...

smoking and driving no problem and not as bad as being on the phone, fags always to hand as is lighter or get passenger spark them up.
smoking is a habit, that you dont have to think about, where as on the phone your talking or texting your eyes off the road unless on handsfree

yeah i think the people that claim it to be bad arent smokers, or maybe are social smokers. us addicted people it takes no effort to light a tab and smoke it while driving.
perhaps people just dont understand.

TBH kids should be banned from the back seats if they make a slight noise, the amount of times i've seen cars swerving about when the driver is shouting at their kids is unreal, people smoking = never.
