it's unbelievable in general terms but unfortunately standard in this shithole of a country.
Moral of the story is cut off his tongue, fingers, toes, eyeballs or anything else they can use to say who done it.

respect to the guy who attacked the burglar.

Where's all the guys from the other thread about tea leafs shouldn't die, how do they feel about going in to a house and tying a family up? Is that ok or are we getting closer to deserving to be hit by a train?

Indian with a cricket bat, you know that was some good hits
But that's crazy can't even defend his own family, getting broken into is bad enough but being tied up also, must have been very scary for them and he gets 30 months..
They must expect him to stay calm and call the police..

Punished for protecting his family, I think anyone would do the same and use any means possible to keep them safe, whether it be chase them off or hit them with something.

there should be a rule allowing defense using any force if under these sorts of circumstances, i,e. make it public knowledge that if you break into a house etc and get caught, the law will no longer protect the intruder in the same way it would otherwise. if you are in someones house, expect a kicking and dont cry about it afterwards!

If this were in America and the homeowner shot him dead, what would happen? Out of curiousity.

Same as would happen here I would think Nath - murder, or at least manslaughter and they'd still get sent down.
I can see why the decision was made - its one thing punching someone to the ground and restraining them, its another to batter someone with a cricket bat. Still think its wrong, but rightly or wrongly the law is what it is.

I dont see any problem whatsoever in what they did to the intruder. As said above, we would all do whatever we would to protect our families and loved ones.
Did the intruder/s actually get any form of punishment whatsoever?

Seems to be a State by State thing in America. Florida and South Dakota allow deadly self defence in cases of car jackings, burglary's etc.....

I remember talking to a few 'yanks' about this and they were always told that if someone was in the house then you get the intruder to turn around and face you, that way you can argue that it was self-defence. Although i still believe it's a bit of a grey area and in most case you'll get sent down.
No sure i agree with the sentence, it's certainly a little harsh to be given jail time for protecting your family although then again he chased them down the street and proceeding to hit the intruder.
I'm curious to know what would have happened if Munir Hussain hit the intruder with a cricket bat in his own property? Would he still have jail time for protecting his family in his own house?

According to Chief Wigam on The Simpsons once a man is in your home anything you do to him is perfectly legal.
I'd use that defence in court.

Are those that got burgled Indian? And the burgler Pakistani?
I see the issue already.
But regardless, they got tied up and for all they know they could have been set on fire or similar, what they done to the burgler is fine by me.
If it were America he would have been shot dead.
Deal with it.
