Before you reply
Only reply if you want to give me helpful adivce..
Anything negative you want to say about me please send it in a U2U
2 months ago I purchased my first car
1999 Black Vauxhall Corsa Sport
96,000 miles
Here are a few pics
Since I bought it I have spent abit on it.. brakes etc... m.o.t..
Since I was 16 (im 18 now) I had fallen in love with Lukes car
I should be getting a 2nd job soon so I will be earning more money to spend on the car.. mods etc.
Over the next 2 years I plan to spend alot on my car and Euro it.. similar to Lukes... but I have a few of my own plans
Do I keep my car and work on it and in the future get a full engine re-build etc... my car has high miles.
Its just if I keep this car I plan to sell it in like 3 years.. and will it still be running by then? sort of a noob when it comes to cars.
or.. buy another black corsa sport with like 60-70k miles and start the project on that car.
Yes I am the owner of my car.. I have the V5 etc
Hope you can help

What's the point in buying another car when you already have what you want?
Work on it and gain some experience.

Then deal with that when you come to it, no point thinking of an engine conversion or anything like in your first year of driving. Do the work to that engine then think about it more in a few years.

If the car runs OK then you don't need engine work. Mileage of a car wouldn't put me off. My Puma has 104k on it and until it blows up I'll keep using it.
Biggest problem with your car is the £500 bill to sort out that sill.

Doesn't need a new door but by the looks of it there's rust in there so you might be easier swapping it.
Major problem is that the sill, the bit below the door, is difficult to pull back out. You can't get on the back of it so it needs pulling, which normally means it needs things welding to it or drilling in to it. Then you have the problem with texture on the surface, which means it can't be welded to anyway, that'll need cleaning off beforehand, then it'll be a nightmare to match. Its just a difficult repair.

I would sell yours and get something in better condition as a base car.

could always treat the rust and put sideskirts on - but you'd always know what lies beneath is a mess?

yh... all I really need is a new bonnet.. bit of rust on front.. and both rear and front bumbers have small cracks... that wont be too expensive
Then there is the door
about £600 worth of cost there?

If you do sell that car, you have to realise it isnt worth much, no where near what price you put it up for last time.

You couldn't fit skirts over that dent, there would be nothing to bond the skirts to. It needs repairing. There's a big fold on the top edge which would make them sit funny as well. Skirts would solve the problem of finishing the repair to match, but you'll still need to repair what is underneath.
Your choices, if you want to have a better looking car are -
Spend a few hundred on that one and tidy it up.
Spend loads and mod it.
Change it and lose money on yours but get a better standard car.
Change it and lose money on yours and mod the car you buy and spend even more money.
Ultimately it comes down to what you want to do and the situation which you are in.

Run yours, dont spend on it, just take it for what it is - a cheap 1st car needing bits doing that will cost more than its worth. While doing so save up & should you still want a modded euro corsa - buy one thats in good nick & already mostly done.

I want a lot of things in life, but you have to look if you can afford it/which is the most cost effective way and look at a compramise.

That may be true but you must also be realistic.

Personally I'd cut my losses and sell that car, even if you have to take a loss over what you paid or at least what you paid for the car and all the bits you've replaced on it.
Source a cleaner base car. I would also be tempted to source a smaller engine one as that will make your insurance cheaper, so more money to modify and also increases chances that somebody will actually insure you with mods declared.

Sounds a far more sensible plan tbh Will.
Also, if you do sell yours, get some decent pics of it ffs!
