I got a karcher jet wash for christmas, so i decided to go for a snow foam lance.
My brothers car was filthy but the end result was ok tho 
(Sorry no before pics)

yeh looks like you didnt put enough foam in the bottle, or the nozzle needs adjusting

The nozzle was full on with ten pumps of foam in, although i do think it ran out towards the end, hence why its a bit patchy

you do this first to loosen all the dirt, then use '2 bucket method'

I use a 3 bucket method...
1 fairy liquid and water.
2 just water to chuck over the top

urm i dont know weere my dad got it from it was a christmas pressent but it is very good,and the snow foam lance imm using is one of cleanyourcar.co.uk and it was £45 pound near enough,and i use some valet pro ph neutral snow foam,but as i say its my first time using this stuff and i dont know how much i need,but it is very fun doing it tho ,are there any hints and tips you lot could give me to using snow foam like any mix ratios that work well,thanks for all your help tho.

i use the autobrite one with their foam and put in about 1 inch of foam and top the rest up with warm water, foams loike yours on the lowest setting and will put about an inch of foam on the car on the highest setting

You need about an inch of Snowfoam in the bottle and top up with hot water. Deffo not enough foam on there. 1 bottle can do my astra twice. The foam should be thick enough so you literally turn the car white, and can't see the paint, but also thin enough that it will run off the car slowly. You control that with the knob on top of the lance. Its a bit trial and error 1st time.

What exactly does covering it in foam do as opposed to getting a bucket of shampoo and a wool mit?

You still have to wash it with a mitt etc but the foam is sprayed on after an initial blast with washer, and left to dwell. It lifts all the heavy dirt off the paint and runs off the car and takes the heavy dirt with it. Then you rinse off. Therefore by the time you wash the paint with a mitt, theres no dirt to be dragged over the car.
However, if your paint is well prepped and waxed, then you can do a wash simply by foaming and rinsing, but obviously not every time.
