That all depends how much money you have...You can stick big turbos on and NOS kits (not practical for road use). But, it all depends how much money you have. You can increase the bhp by 5 if you add a good exhaust system, or by 50 with port, polish, new cams, steel rods etc etc etc. You need the money to make it quick.
There isn't a limit as there's no default way of modifying. Some people use parts that aren't vauxhall to make their corsa's fly. Just need lots of money to do it.

on a 1.6 140bhp is easy for cheap money Start with
Strait through exhaust,
Derestricted air box & good cold air feed,
an aftermarket inlet/powerbox
& a remap
should see around 135 bhp

Sbd claim 245bhp iirc, but thats all steel, dry sumped, mega lite valve train, big valve head. Heads on ex port are welded up and remachined, itbs, big manifold, solid lifters, 310+ degree cams, etc etc,
U could build a 400+ bhp let inc box, dif, etc 4 around 5k

soo can you get the 1.6 16v faster than a saxo vts and all that just by the engine and not stripping it and all that

dpends as the vts is lighter and iirc virtually the same engine as the 106gti and they shift. you would need inlet, decent enclosed filter, decent exhaust system/manifold and get it chipped to raise the rev limit as that what kills the small block vaux motors limiting so low.
if need any actual engine work or rebuild parts let me know or pop down sometime if wana chat about anything, only 25min down the a55 from you anyway

faster in a straight line maybe. it will never handle as good as a saxo vts.

Yes, you can make your 1.6 corsa, faster than a VTS with some modifiyng and less than a grand of cash because they are made from tin and are therefore a lot lighter than the corsas.

I think the saxos and peugeouts can be fast but I don't think reliable, and personally, I hate the interior on them both too. I really can't stand it

if vaux didnt become dickheads and used the c16xe when it had lotus fettle it, then it would of been a rapid car at the time, but seeing as they had them restricted ill admit there just overrated slow cars compared to what could/should of been

i think youre right there and nic i just find vauxhalls are more easier to understand mechanical wise if anything goes wrong imo as i know saxos are like jigsaw puzzles and i wouldnt wanna crash in one of those as it would just crumple up...

I sat in a saxo not long ago passenger, and I was very worried about how close the doors seemed to your body. Feel safer in the corsa, personally.
Neh'mind, it's all personal opinion and I suppose if someone buys a french un from their first car, they're gonna be used to it, I prefer the vauxhall's, end of the day a 3L v6, 2.5 v6, c20let, c20xe, x18xe1 is quicker than a rallye or a VTS, so if anyone is that bothered by the speed, do a conversion.
