At £80,000... You could make a profit on that car. It'll cost a FORTUNE to restore it, but at the end of the day, it is a real Type 22, and will be worth a shit load.

But it won't be a Type 22 That's the point. A replica (as good as one can be) will NEVER be what this car is.

a rusted heap of shit? Face it, there's going to be not much left of the original car when it's restored, it'll be new pieces of steel wielded and filler applied and new wiring, not the original car. Only thing you might get is the v5 document to say what car it is, except that, it'll all have to be replaced.

i do see your point but as root said it wont be alot of original parts left once youve finished restoring it
tbh i think you would have to get a new engine for it.... which will definatly not be easy to find

if the guy buying it does manage to re make it ... fair play to him haha

It'll be replacement parts, but it'll still be a Type 22. It's like building a replica Countach or building a broken Countach from the bottom up... You know one is a proper Lambo, and one isn't, regardless if they are made with almost identical parts!

If someone's going to spend £80k+ on that... I'm sure they'll find the parts from somewhere

Agree with both points to be honest.

Its like Triggers broom though. 80% will be made up of replacement parts but technically the whole car will still be 'original'

Usable part = vehicle identity and number plates, hence the price. Yes, it's very bizarre!

I'm sure the engine could be re-used with a re-bore and some other shit, after all its a big lump if cast iron not thin steel.

You'd want to use the block to retain the engine number...

That will be worth a bomb if somebody restores it. Would make an interesting project thread that for sure!. As said i think the main block would be saved other than that its hard to tell from those pictures.

the guy that does buy it will probably be so well off that they pay someone to restore it instead of doing it themselves. Shame, i wanted a project thread would have been a mega epic one.

Someone with a lot of a money and a penchant for Bugattis and restoring them I would have thought.

It'd probably be worth even more if it was a Type 37 for instance.

Most will be fabricated no doubt. What can be salvaged will be. You can guarantee it will be a sympathetic restoration.
