just looking to swap my insurance over from my mk1 golf to my mk3 golf and they want another £20 a month (works out to just over £100 a month)

im with aviva (used to be norwich union), im on a 9months policy (get a years no claims in 9months instead of 12months) and the first thing i asked them is can i transfer it at a later day and they said yes, but now there saying i cant..

i have '4' years no claims with them, but if i went somewhere else i would only have 2 years no claims as it goes on how long i have been with aviva, just gone on confused.com and the cheapest its showing is £950 with £500 excess on a 'STANDARD' 1.4l mk4 golf at 20 with 2 years no claims..

my insurance is up in april but thats still 4months (£400) away.. (will get my 4th years no claims with aviva then, but if im going to a different insurance company theres no problem in canceling my policy now)

does anyone know any good insurance companys i could try? im sick of trying to talk to these people in banalore!

try them all, confused, go compare, comparethemeerkat and moneysupermarket.com, then get the lowest price of them all, ring a few companies, get them to quote you and say "oh well, this company offered me a quote for 500" and they might beat it!

Ive done back to back quotes and moneysupermarket has always came back the cheapest for me and my GF.

Like for like with a mk3 Gti 16v against say a mk3 Astra Gsi 16c/cav sri 16v etc,the golfs are pretty expensive.

My Mk3 Gti 16v Anni was about £1400 a year, the equivilent Mk3 Gsi 16v was £1k.Its so crazy its unreal.

I wouldnt have thought that would be the case for a 1.4 though.

P.S,you would be better getting quotes for a modified car would you not??

just gone through compare the market and best quote is £792 fc so thats better anyway..

but going to ring a few places tomorrow to see what i can get out of them, think its best to cancel my policy with aviva as im not gaining anything from building my no claims with them..

insurance on scene cars has gone up a lot lately due to all the accidents scene cars have due to wacky camber. if you actual claim you run scene camber on the back, a lot of insurance companies wont cover you. true story.

Oh i read as did other above as, its another 20 a month meaning 100 a month.

Instead of saying its costing an extra £20 a month ontop of current insurance meaning £100 a month in total.

Wasn't trying to be a cunt, just didn't understand it.never mind

Norwich union are weird.

I'm also on the 9 month policy with max 5 years no claims protected. They sent through the quote for the next 9 months so I rang up to see what the cost would be to go onto a regular 12 month policy.

9 months renewal = £315
12 months renewal = £700

WTF?

Try HIC, I'm with them for the Corsa and they quoted me approx £200 less than confused.com did.

They are also meant to be very good for VAG cars.

I noticed this today. Was thinking of getting another ctr. I paid £850 last year. This year with an extra NCB cheapest I can find is just under 1000

At the moment I can't get cheaper than £1400 without silly excess on a mk4 astra gsi. I'm 22 and got 5years ncb. Put my mrs on who is 20 and been driving 1 year and it knocks £250 off!

Oh and insurance has gone up. Paid £990 last year on the same car.
