So I bought a diesel mk4 Fiesta. Until the clutch went after one day. So I spent a week removing the gearbox to replace that. Then it stopped starting. So I abandoned it, and bought a Corsa.
This is my third Corsa B. I keep coming back to them!
So here it is, 1.5L Diesel B, bought with 89.5k on it. Some MOT and Tax for £300. It's a poverty spec though
It goes very well, body is very sound. Time to start modifying!
In go a set of re-trimmed Calibra leather seats which I've since fitted but haven't got any pics (I've got the back ones too, just gotta swap them onto my bases)
Bought a set of 15" steelies and some Kenwood 6x9s.
And bought and fitted a new head unit to replace the shockingly poor quality DVD playing unit I had in there before.
Now the plan is to keep the black bumpers, and stick to the theme of "Black and white poverty look modified".
To the untrained eye, I want people to look at it, and think "that base model Corsa looks alright".
So the plan is, to paint the new steelies up in white, some low profile tyres, lower the car 40mm (keep it practical, it's an everyday commuter), tint the windows, fit a better looking steering wheel, fit some textured ABS side skirts and fit the PAS rack I've got sat in the garage.
It'll be Poverty spec chic.
Last time I checked the fuel economy, it did 56mpg. Gotta love it.
Needs a service too, but that's about it.
Watch this space (it'll happen fairly slowly though!)

I would love to, I'm just trying to keep the budget to a minimum. They originally have 175 width tyres on, but I want to fit 195 to have a better tyre choice. Any input?
The bodywork is amazingly clean, there's 2 very very small patches of bubbling paint. I'm gonna spend a morning with some wet-and-dry and a rattle can and it'll be sorted.
I quite fancy fitting some sort of rev counter, either some different clocks, and modify them with a carbon fibre background and maybe white dials. Or fit some pod gauges on the pillar with a small rev counter and an oil pressure gauge.

Few small updates.
Pic of my interior fitted.
Fitted my fire extinguisher.
Wiring for sub and amp fitting..
Subs and amp fitted. (They were free from a mate) so only cost me a £10 fitting kit.
I'll be making a custom build for the boot at some point. Just something more practical, I'll just be using one sub, and having it right in the far left of the boot with the amp under a false floor to keep the most boot space I can.

Today...
Struts off, lowering springs fitted, refitted plus strut brace.
Stupid struts needed an offset 18mm spanner, of course the local tool shop doesn't sell just one. But they do sell a set including one for £33...So I had to buy that, since my car had no struts to drive anywhere else...
New colour coded front bumper chucked on.
Rear bumper off.
Colour coded rear bumper on.
So lowered, strut braced, and colour coded facelift bumpers.
Crappy steelies let it down now. Need to get some tyres on my 15" steelies, spray them white and it'll be mint.

I don't know about the steelies, don't even know what they're off! Got them for £50 inc postage off here!
And I feel you with the debadging, it's in desperate need, just one of those jobs I havn't got round to yet.

Towbar on, to drag my motorbikes around.
Nova GSI steering wheel fitted.
So to celebrate my success I took the car for its MOT. Which it swiftly failed on a tyre, black smoke, seized brake load sensor and some patches that need welding.

To celebrate the steering wheel and bumpers the car promptly failed it's MOT.
Emissions not tested due to excessive black smoke
Front n/s tyre lack of tread
Seized brake load sensing valve
excessive corrosion on n/s and o/s sill.
And a few advisories. Never mind.
So in the past few days I've done an oil and filter change, and an air filter.
Free'd off the brake load sensing valve, large pliers, a hammer and WD40 did the trick.
Swapped the spare onto the front n/s wheel.
And had a mobile welder round to patch up the sill. When we looked closer the n/s sill was actually fine, think the tester was taking the piss if I'm honest.
Won't be going to MOTMax in Grantham again.
Total cost of repairs, about £100 including 5L of oil, both filters and the welding.
Let's hope it passes now!

Worst thing was,I hit it on the way home after a late shift, so it was about 4am. I got home and went straight inside.
So I didn't see my little friend, until I left for work at 2pm. And I couldn't remove it then because I would have been late for work, so I left it in and drove it back to work.
Then when I got to work, I put it in a clear bag and gaffer tapped it to my mate's locker

Well, it failed another MOT for excessive smoke, also both handbrake cables and a tail light. So I've replaced the tail light (shoulda checked that before I went really).
Today I cracked on and did the handbrake cables. I only had another MOT about a month previous which didn't notice the handbrake cable which was worrying!
Tester had a point!
Got the new cables in, giving the rear brakes a bit of a service while I was at it.
Then I debadged the sides and rear.
And de-striped the sides.
So now all I'm waiting for is my set of eBay injectors which will hopefully quel the smoke!

Just bought a set of 4 Corsa C alloys. So those 15" steelies are now for sale.
It's still mega-smoking, almost certainly too much for the MOT.

£65 ono for the steelies mate, still in pretty much perfect condition.
And the smoke is just under load. Worse when I get the revs right up.

A mate of mine took it home! If you're still after those wheels I'm sorta interested in your lower strut brace.

Changed the injectors today for the £50 eBay set I bought:
New injectors going in:
Corn flakes box gasket:
All bolted back up.
Engine started with no issues which was the first hurdle. Still seems to smoke though.
Also in today's comedy of errors, I drove to the tyre place with no nuts holding either of my front struts in, and also found a long lost spanner in my engine bay. When I removed it, I also mystically cured the metallic rattling my engine was making when running.
Fitted some Corsa C wheels too.
So the car appears to still be smoking. So that's injectors changed, air filter changed, oil and filter changed. Still no difference. Anyone got any bright ideas?
