Standard R5 would win..... R5 looks bit better tho, but that hardly has any relevance to performance.
Tuning wise they both can be done up well.... although R5's are unreliable

a standard punto (1.4) gt turbo is 134bhp 0-60 in 8secs.
a standard r5 gtt is 120bhp, 0-60 in 7.2secs
r5 gtt weighs nothing, they r so light (good, but bad in a crash!) and also they tend to over heat too much hense why probibly 85% of all r5gtt's ever built have blown there head gaskit! lol put it this way...iv never heared of one that has'nt!
id go for a punto gtt just for reliability...because once its tuned up a lot, u dont want it to go pop all the time!

0-60 times are not a good measure of performance for a turbocharged car.

many different models on R5 (performance wise)
PGTT and R5T would be about even standard, not to sure higher up though 70mph plus.

if your going to comment on cars then at least speak the truth. 0-62 for the punto GT is 7.9s. it came with 136 or 130 hp.
the R5 was quicker off the mark cause it weights 200kg less. GT can be tuned to more power but both are limited to what they produce on standard turbo. R5 engine has cooling problems compared to the GT. I would have a Punto GT over the R5

The Renault is possibly the ONLY car that has a poorer build quality than the Punto (truth) I used to own a totaly standard 5 GT turbo and it was bloody quick ;-) engine wise, i never had any problems with mine. Apart from the paper thin body pannels that pick up dings dead easy and the interior rattles and squeeks, but then again so do Puntos only worse LOL
